im sure i argued the point in favour of reverse in and drive out til i was blue in the face, but still plenty of folk couldnt understand the logic behind it....work permit granted!0

It's recommended to do the reversing while the car engine is warm and the power steering up to full efficiency rather than using it when the motor's cold.
Apparently it's better for the car, and of course my driving instructor always told me you could manouevre more in reverse gear.
OP - it's a shame your hubby will lose his no claims bonus - at least the other driver has already lost his NCB , so he won't be getting off scott free.:rolleyes:Member of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

I supose you could always see if the car park is covered by cctv. But probably too late now and likely only to prove against you even if the other party was driving too fast.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

I know, it's quite frightening the number of people who can't see it.....
Reverse in, drive straight out - and you avoid hitting people. Simples.0 -
Some people on here should hand their driving licences in.Nature wants the human race to survive. However, it does not depend on us because we are not its only invention.0

CCTV is an option. Plus another one is sueing the driver eversing dies not hols a right of way , however excessive speed and driving without due care that caused your oh to hit him. If he was on the wrong side , he is in the wrong. But again it would taike the expertise of a liability expert.ONE HOUSE , DS+ DD Missymoo Living a day at a time and getting through this mess you have created. One day life will have no choice but to be nice to me :rotfl:0

I never have a problem. If one side is too narrow, the other side will be fine. You don't have to bring the trolley to the boot either, just drag the bags in if need be. Besides, would you prefer to 'breathe in a little' with your groceries or reverse blindly into the situation the OP's OH found himself in?
I have a 4x4, so its a little wide & spaces are narrow.
Barely enough to get myself & or passengers down the side, much less a trolly.
Then when you get to the back you can't open it, because it opens like a door outwards to the side.
I hate driving in, rather than reversing in, but if I'm bringing a full trolly out & their isn't loading space benhid (like when they have a pavement between the bays I have to drive in.
If you leave your trolly at the top & carry your bags down (thats if I can get my boot-door open) then in the unstable floor of a car park they sometimes run off, that has happened to me.0 -

What happens when both sides are too narrow (because the drivers either side of you cant reverse into the middle of a space).
Even when they all park properly if the cars are big, there isn't usually much room. I try & park by little cars;)0 -

I totally understand the logic & prefer to do it.
If car parks had a little pavement between the rows we could all reverse in & access our boots;)0
