Age for males to be spayed (kitten)

Some vets can be very funny about neutering early, but if you have a good reason for why, then there isn't really a reason for why they should refuse.
To be honest, i think £40 is very reasonable
Apart from the cost, the main thing is whether you have faith in your vets and trust them. :starmod: :staradmin :starmod:I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my knickers:starmod: :staradmin :starmod:0 -
I dont mind the £40 tbh, I just know there is a cheaper place, my friend said they are quite good and he changed from the one I'm at, as they are "dear" but then they are a small clinic so probably have higher overheads, but it's more personal.
It's just that they said preferably 7months, and I really don't want to wait THAT long.
Oh btw is it normal for cats to poop in a litter box that has no litter in it? He always does it as soon as my back is turned when I'm cleaning them out. Wonder if he's trainable to poo on the loo hehe.0 -

Maybe I'll call around as don't want to wait to 7months, if he sprays, I'll scream.
If you have pedigrees that you want to "look" a certain way, then delaying spaying does allow them to bulk out. I also think pedigrees mature a little later (or persians/exotics do anyway) & can be done later.
I let Ted (RIP) go to a year & had him done & he was a massive boy, had the real "Tom" look with his trousers (hair around the legs) & big head. He never tried to spray before or after the op in the house, BUT he did simulate sex with Mongolian cushions:o & fight (when he got the chance), he hated other cats/dogs/everything - except people. He sprayed the garden to mark it as his. Had I have had him done younger he may have been smaller, but a little more mellow, that might have made him happier.
Charlie & George are almost the same age, so I had them both spayed at 6.5 months as I didn't want any trouble between them. George is big anyway & hopefully Charlie will grow more (his Dad & Granddad were huge:eek:).
So I think it makes them happier to be "done" & if size isn't an issue, get them off:D0 -

I'm training mine;)0 -
I imagine the wee on the seat would be worse than when OH stumbles in drunk and wees all over......he's really messy going to the toilet! He somehow manages to skidmark down the OUTSIDE of the litter box?!
It might of been you who reccomended the Van ness litter box MrsE? I ordered one, 2 weeks ago! It's still out of stock, but I hate the two litter trays, esp since they both go in each others, so one giant one should do the both of them!
Is it good at hiding stinkys poos? His are rough!0 -

Probably was.
They seem to be the only ones with nice high sides to keep it all in the box.
Have you tried Sainsburys City Cat white crystal litter?
Its the dogs:D
I still use it with the litterkwitter, I'm on intermediate amber stage.0 -
I had my two boys snipped at 8mths old. Neither were spraying (which seems to be your primary concern).0

My babies have been done today at 5 months. My boy is running around this evening like the loon he usually is, eating anything and everything and generally being his usual self. He has no stitches (apparently they make a small hole and pull them out!!), and seems to have no pain whatsoever.
My little girl is more subdued and has a collar but her wound is tiny. Glad it's all done and we can relax that there will be no extra kittens here
Well I can't stand by the side
And watch this life pass me by
Just want to be...Happy0 -
I remember when my female cat was neutered, she was over a year when I got her done, the yowling was too much for my ears! The vets were being difficult and saying she had to be out of season for 3months - that's impossible! She was in heat every 2 weeks, and funnily enough she doesn't go near OH, doesn't like him for some reason, even if I'm away out and she is wanting fed she won't bother him, but screams at me when she wants, anyhow, when she was in heat she wouldn't come near me, she was all over him, crouching down and yowling, disturbing! She did the same with my dad!
I'll just see what my vets say, thing is he is crazy, not joking, I think he may be semi feral, I've never met a kitten quite like him, he trys to climb my doors and curtains and just doesn't listen, eats anything, and is constantly narking off the older cat with him biting her bum!0 -

Haha that sounds like every kitten we've ever had...
Wait until you have a xmas tree up......
My OH just said that when he was little, his kitten destroyed his remote control fire truck within 5 minutes of him opening it cos he chewed through the cable. All together now... Ahhhhhhhhh!:rotfl:What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0
