Before I got my C64, I had a Vectrex now that was a classic green screen gaming machine but you could have a colour screen if you put the plastic overlays on :rotfl:, and so popular within 6 months all the games were reduced to 50p at Woolies.

Just divide the cost of the game by how many hours you are likely to spend on it. Good games are extraordinary value. I've probably put in 100hours on cod modern warfare. I bought it second hand for £30. Thats 30p an hour.
Anyway, never buy a new release. Have some patience. 6months later they are half the price.
And you sell the original 3 or 4 months before the sequel comes out to maximise your loss. I sold COD5 for £30 on ebay, which pays for most of COD4part2!0
