Trinnylilac, Ktpie, are you still with the Zest plan?

    I just finished Week 4 - I can't believe I have done this for a month now; I am running :O)

Anyone else still going? I would love some encouragment!

Hi Claudie- well done you!!! :T

I have limped sporadically through a few evenings but not managed a full week yet and feel I should either start again or give up!!!

So it is so lovely to hear from someone who sounds a bit like me, but who is managing to fit it in. I think I am going to take your advice and try mornings... gulp! I have avoided it so far because I already have to get up early for work, and it would be hard to go to bed much earlier than I already do... but it would definitely save time, doing it before my morning shower....

I will have to start on Tuesday this week if I do it that way as I have a work event and need an extortionately early start in the morning anyway. Would it matter if I did Tues, Wed, Fri? Or is the rest day crucial?

Anyway, WELL DONE YOU (again!) - I'd love to find myself loving running; I've never stuck to anything sporty yet.... :o

    Keep it up!

    Thanks Annie

I highly recommend the rest day - I really need it, I don't think I could do two days straight. The rest day I always think OMG I can't do this ever again but the next morning I feel fine.

And I am no early bird! I hate mornings but I am determined this time to do it. And I have told every single person I know so the pressure is really on now as everyone asks how I am doing.

And - 3 of my neighbours have joined in....not running with me but doing the plan, we are all on various weeks. My OH asked what I did to persuade them and in all honestly I didn't do anything. I think they see me stumble by and think OMG if she can run anyone can LOL

Oh the other thing I would say - I was going straight to the shower when I got in but I couldn't cool down and was still way too hot even trying to dry my hair. Now I have to sit and cool down for 10 - 15 minutes to stop sweating before I can even shower so I have factored that time in too.

If I can do it - anybody can!!! And thanks for the encouragment, much appreciated. If you want to give it a go there will be cyber cheering available.

I am at the end of week two and I never ever thought I would be able to stick with it but I am.
Even did a 10 mile cycle yesterday with the kids ...

I would even say I am enjoying it

Well done - a 10 mile ride is fantastic. Maybe when I have conquered learning to run I will try to get back on a bike; I have a fear of falling on my backside in public!

Well if you do go riding take my advice and buy a padded gel seat . I am feeling very sore if you know what I mean.

One question though when going from week 3 to 4 did you find it difficult . Only asking as I found I really had to push myself on Friday

    Will remember that thanks :O)

I have found every change of week a challenge. I think the program is very clever as just when I think I am tired, I find I can just make it that extra bit - but only just. I have ordered the book but it is out of print and I am waiting for it to be delivered. I am hoping that will help with the final push.

Roll on tomorrow morning. I am just off to look for some wet weather stuff...now there's another challenge.

I want to get back into running, since at the moment I am so unfit my heart pounds if I get up to quickly or run up stairs. I bought a good pair of shoes last year and barely wore them, so now seems like a good time to start. GF says I can have her Mum's old exercise bike too, so that could take care of the alternative exercise on the Zest plan. As for the brisk walk, I wonder if an 8-12 mile walk with the Ramblers that I do most Sunday's would count instead?

Keep up the good work everybody and where's that thanks button when you need it. :D

I didn't think about the wet weather , I too will have to get some waterproofs.

Stephen I think your walk with the ramblers is more than enough for your weekend exercise.

I wanna start running to but one problem is where. The streets here are full of neds so it's not so much "Race for Life" as run for your life!

I might try the really early morning jog approach.

Waterproofs are rarely breathable enough to cope with the sweat output when running. Think 'boil in the bag' and go for a very light, water resistant windshell like these: http://www.gooutdoors.co.uk/pp/Mens/Jackets/Montane_Featherlite_Smock.html
if i had known then what i know now
