in Credit cards
We have had Tesco credit card for a few years and once the 0 % finished (about a year ago) we set up a direct debit to pay off the full amount each month which has happened with no problems................until now.
We check our flex account regularly and noticed that the £904 monthly fee had not been taken.
Thinking they were maybe running a bit late we left it and checked again today. Still hadnt been taken.
Checked on the Tesco card on line service only to find that we had a £12 late payment fee!!
After eventually getting through on the phone helpline we were told they had tried to take the money and it had been refused by Nationwide. A fact I found hard to believe.
Rang Nationwide and they double checked for us and as we expected.....no sign of Tesco attempting to take it. (Enough funds in account)
Eventually got back through to someone else on the Tesco line and after checking with the direct debit department....it was their fault.
Rambled on about changing everyones account numbers and not having time to set up new direct debits.
None too pleased about this as I wasted an hour of my time chasing this up, will no doubt have a huge phonebill which I may just send to Tesco for a refund.......and no show as yet of refunded Late Payment Fee.
Rant over.......of it wasnt for the Tesco points Id cancel the account.

'Too late now, unfortunately, but if you ring Tesco Finance on 0800 505 555, you'll avoid the perishing 0870/0845 numbersPeople who don't know their rights, don't actually have those rights.0

Nice one Moggles....
Also ensure no derogatory data is entered against you with the CRA's and that this will not affect you in the future by increasing your APR to reflect the fact you're a high risk by missing payments (even though we all know you never!)2010 - year of the troll

I took out a Tesco CC a couple of years back and cleared it in full every month after pay day, after they failed to set up the direct debit - in a year they applied something like 7 lots of the £12 late charge. I complained about it and they eventually refunded 50-something quid and sent out another DD form. After using the card for the first time since, I've just been sent another "we've charged you £12" letter, so back to the phones. Like KM says, if it weren't for the CC points...0

Still have 999/999 according to the experian "fake-a-score" thing. They're only "late payment" fees, not "non-payment", so I still have 0s in all the rows, no Xs (or is it the other way round? I forget)0 -

My standard line on these things is to ask for compensation on the phone for the phone call and my time. You can easily get £5 per phone call, I always ask for £15 and settle for £10.
Put in a formal complaint and ask them to credit you with £60 for your time - £45 for 1.5 hours dealing with call centres and writing complaint letter and £15 for cost of mobile phone calls, envelope, stamps and ink.
You'll feel much better after you've posted itSave it as a template so you only need to fill in the "problem situation" and throw them out the door every time you make a get a bum deal.

If I open two accounts for a pound each I will get £20 out of it. Should more than cover the phone costs. Cheers :TMake £10 a Day Feb .....£75.... March... £65......April...£90.....May £20.....June £35.......July £600
