What I want to know, for people who already opened the instant saver well before the September date, like me, so the account is in use, trial transactons carried out and all, will we get the Clubcard points for the balance in the account on 6 October as per original "deal". OR is this now postponed until 31 Dec and there will be nothing on 6 Oct??

I rang and asked CS a couple of days ago, and was told that if the account was opened between the original dates, then the original cleared balance date is still applicable (ie 7 October). I'm hoping they're correct, because I don't feel like another protracted exercise with Tesco if it is now supposed to be 31 December.

I'm in the same position as you.

However, and to be on the safe side should things get 'awkward' with the points, I'm transferring from my Internet Saver account to the new Instant Access Savings account via an external (FP enabled so same day completion) current account...rather than directly from one Tesco account to the other.

    i''l do that

Did they say what constitutes the date the account was opened though? Is it the date on the letter they send you?
It still seems confusing if an account was applied for around the cutover date to the new offer, as there is nothing to definitively say which one you qualify for..

Picked up a leaflet in store today and looks like they've extended the offer, hurray! - http://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/savings/index.jsp
The offer has not been extended it is a new offer. The 250 points level has gone and the new starter level is 500 points for 1K and other clauses as per my post http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1953223&highlight=

As I understand it (from my similar experience with the offer on Internet Saver last year), they class the opening date from when they receive the signed returned application form. This was/is very problematical when they weren't/aren't processing the applications very quickly, and with lots of duplicated paperwork passing backwards and forwards.

If you log in to your Tesco account and select 'view account details', it shows the date the account was opened.

Apologies for the stupid question but I can't find where I can log into my account. Can see credit cards bt no savings

Is this something I should have set up when I opened the account?

Here's the link (hope it works)
    https://www.tescofinance.com/personal/finance/register_insecure/input_customer_no.jsp?hub=true

you should have got your numbers part one and two in the long-winded set up process - it was so complicated I can't actually remember how/when I got them!

or try HERE bottom middle of the page, there shouldbe a log on button?
  • Is anyone gonna actually use the account they've opened? I wasn't at first but now I'm thinking of actually using it. I have savings account with my bank but no money in them cos I can access them too easily by transferring money online but with this one is better having a card that I can leave at home. I have some money in a money box and am trying to save a little every month so might put all that in the Tesco's and save that way instead.
