Virgin**(valid to Network West Midlands boundary, however Zone 5 ticket is valid to Rugeley)
So I should be able to travel Coventry-Birmingham with this one?

Longer periods by direct debit seem even cheaper.0 -
I am off to London in the morning but getting myself muddled with all the very helpful advice on here....
We have a great escape ticket voucher - are we able to use this on the journey from crewe to euston ( i think we can but think we are restricted to times etc). I have had a look on London Midland website and the prices are a lot more than the great escape voucher so not sure if we can still use this?
I don't travel very often on trains.. I think that's obvious!!
Can we use the great escape voucher on any train journey between crewe and london? and return the day after
Hope someone can helpx

Any London Midland train from Crewe to London at valid times - looks like 0833 and later from Crewe.
You need a second voucher to return next day
The vouchers are issued for specific days0 -

Which may explain why the £10 fares are not there.
It costs £10 per person per day.
So if you are planning to return the next day, you need to pay another £10 each.
You will also need another voucher for the second day.
Sadly there are no vouchers left for Saturday.
You can travel on any LM train after 09:30.
There are some restrictions leaving Euston in the evening though.0 -
Thanks guys. I got the voucher for each day a few weeks ago but wasn't sure how they worked. Hopefully I have sussed it out and can use it on the journeys I have planned0

Hi All,
Could be a daft question this - are cheap tickets just not available on some routes?
We're looking for tickets going from Crewe to Edinburgh, leaving Fri 20th May, returning Mon 23rd. Virgin run direct trains which is handy.
I know tickets for the Monday aren't released yet but having tried multiple sites (Trainline, EastCoast, RailEasy etc) I get offered nothing over than a standard Anytime Return for £77 for the Friday.
I've tried splitting the journey eg Crewe to Wigan, Wigan to Edinburgh but that comes to £70 so not a great saving, especially when on the same morning Crewe to London can be done for £22 (single).
Thanks,
Chris.0 -

Try looking at tickets for a few weeks earlier.
Should give you some idea of what might become available on your dates.
I've just looked at 25/28 March and can see £18 out and £12 back Advance Singles without splitting.
Of course the times may not suit you, but gives an idea.
And to answer your first question...
No. Cheap tickets are not available on some routes.

Senior executives at one train company have defended their controversial new ticket despite customers' growing frustration at the needless and deliberate complexity of rail travel in the UK.

I am just about to give up on the whole thing but thought it might be worth asking on here first.
Myself and 5 other adults need to go from Hull to Aberdeen for three nights at some point between 1st April and 18th April. Two of nights need to be Friday and Saturday. I am struggling to find anything reasonably priced, even with East Coast's third off for groups offer. I have tried split ticketing but nothing is working.
Can anyone help? I'm thinking of leaving it and hoping East Coast do one of there £8 each way deals again soon.0 -

What's your idea of 'reasonably priced'? I think you may be looking at £20 to £30 a head each way - £8 ain't going to happen, not from Hull to Aberdeen. York to Edinburgh maybe, but even then I doubt it. The 'off' season is over.0
