    Hi all,

I know this is probably the wrong thread but me being the newbie I couldn't find any other one where I could post my problem (rant?)

Wonder if any one can help, I have a season ticket from Nottingham to Leicester and I have had really problems in the last couple of days (with the train I normally take):

On wed the train did not call at Nottingham because it was running late (this is the first time I have heard something like this is allowed or happens, apparently it happens all the time - just moved to Nottingham so still finding it fascinating) and as a result I had to wait for a later train (needless to say I was delayed and got bollocked at work) which was overcrowded and had to stand throughout!

Then yesterday an earlier train got cancelled and my train was overcrowded and had to stand yet again.

Now I know what people mean when they refer to cattle class! What is the point of having half the train as first class and have only 25% of it occupied when there are loads of us standing?

Is there any compensation that I am entitled to? (Previously when I was commuting from Bushey to Euston and if the train was delayed by 30 mins or so I got a cheque in the post as compensation, it was only for a few pounds but still).

If anyone from East Midlands trains or Department for Transport is reading this, can you please let whoever is in charge know that the service is rubbish and it needs serious attention!

    Thanks for your help!

All franchised train companies have to offer a compensation scheme for delays and cancellations and the level of compensation is stated in the passenger charter for your operator.
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

Try splitting at Exeter St Davids.
  • Could any one find my a cheaper way of travelling Sheffield to Slough. Need to go down on the 9th april and return on the 11th, ideally arriving about 3pm. The journey would be for 2 adults and 2 kids with a family railcard. I have currently got £84.20 as my cheapest. Thanks

£32.30 each way for all four of you. Total = £64.60.

To find this I used East Coast Trains website.
When you have the list of trains showing, click on show slower routes (down the left side). Then tick the box Via East Midlands Trains & other TOC connecting services. Click the update button.

There's a 11:32 Sheffield departure at that price, and several return trains too.

There's one departing London Kings Cross 20.03, arriving Leeds 22.33, for £25.35 one way, if booked online. Found on www.eastcoast.co.uk.

Edit: Just noticed if you can leave it until departure 21.30 (arrive 23.59) you can do it for £13 one way. Same booking site.
    :D I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe :D
