Rail Travel: Tips on Cheap Tickets
Comments
-
Ive just rung and you are right people, apparently - this is so confusing for me - there are now two different companies running the line. National express (which I thought had thrown in the towel) apparently havent released the advance tickets for March 6th yet.
There are (or were) two* national Expresses - East Coast, who no longer exist, and ran to Leeds and Edinburgh, and East Anglia, who still operate the Norwich route and will do for a while yet. They were run as separate enterprises but (as with all rail companies) sold each other's tickets.
*well three if you count the coach company, and there are probably other subsidiaries as well0 -
Is it just me but DAK think the new national rail website is very poorly designed?
Find it hard to find information and some links just give me error pages.
DAK how much the nationalrail website charge if any as i set up some text alerts for my train journey tommorow??0 -

my return Cross country train was delayed by 44mins. When i asked the ticket conductor if i claim any compensation for delay, she said "no, delay must be more than 1 hour". But when i just checked the CC website it says i should be entitled to a 50% refund! either she is not clued up to company T&Cs or a train company ploy to limit number of customers claiming.0

From their website (as you found)...If your journey was delayed 30 minutes or more, irrespective of the cause, you will be entitled to claim compensation under our Delay Repay scheme. We will offer our customers:- 50% of the cost of your single ticket or 50% of the cost of either portion of your return ticket for delays of between 30 and 59 minutes; or
- 100% of the cost of your single ticket or 100% of the cost of either portion of your return ticket for delays of 60 minutes or more.
- If your journey is delayed by more than two hours and you have a return ticket, you will be entitled to receive 100% of the cost of the return ticket.

Cheers although i did find the link. Hoping that other MSE's who are delayed by more than 30mins check their operator T&Cs, in case conductor is not fully aware of the T&Cs!
(a few years ago i was delayed by CC for several hours, even with the alternative transport they provided. But not once they ever mentioned that customers can claim for the delay or be provided with free non-alcholic drinks!)0 -
Can't get ticket info on Eastcoast site. Been trying for an hour and keep getting "Problem loading page" when I have entered my journey details and try to search for ticket info.
Anyone else, or is it just me?
