Rail Travel: Tips on Cheap Tickets

Arrrgggggghhhh I despair I really. Now the Virgin train is stipulating timing restrictions and yep you guessed it the cheap ticket is only for a ridiculous time of train and not one that fits with the rest of journey.
I am thinking now. No saving to be had so will bite the bullet and take the price already quoted.If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!!0 -
Any help please !!! Muchly appreciated. Ive tried in vain looking at this and that site to no avail thus problem still causing headache.
I need to get from Brighton to Northampton tomorrow. I am not particular about time just as long as I get there by 1800ish.
I have managed to get the fare down to £40.20 and this is splitting the journey as follows:- London Euston to Rugby £7 and Rugby to Northampton £5.20. So thats the northern part of the journey sorted for a reasonable cost of £12.
Its just the southern leg which no matter which permutation I try I cannot get down in price.
Any advise greatly appreciated.
Dep Brighton 14:49, arr Milton Keynes 17:00.
Then an Off Peak Day Single from MK to Northampton will cost you £7.20, arriving at 17:49.
Book your tickets via Southern Railway's website and collect at a machine at Brighton Station before departure.
Total = £11,70.0 -

Can anyone help with ticket prices? Am trying to go to London on Friday - a last minute trip with myself & 2 children. Cheapest ticket is £50 on morning train. Is it too late to expect anything cheaper? Have tried splitting at Bedford & Leicester with no success.
Thanks0 -

£60.00 for return tickets for one adult and two fare paying children is very good.

Apologies if this has been already mentioned"If you can bear to hear the truth you've spoken

Does anyone know when cheap train tickets for Carlisle to Peterborough on 6th March 2010 will be available via the East Coast website? At the moment it is still showing expensive tickets!I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.0
