Does anyone know when cheap train tickets for Carlisle to Peterborough on 6th March 2010 will be available via the East Coast website? At the moment it is still showing expensive tickets!

Booking is now up to 5 March........tickets for the next week will start to be available next Thursday (usually about 10.30a.m)

On the East coast site you can register to receive an email when your tickets are available. I find it very useful.

Pity that you are not going a bit earlier as the current £9 deal finishes on 5 March, but keep an eye out as it is likely that this deal will be repeated.

The 6th March is actually my return journey ... so I can take advantage of the £9 fare for my outbound journey since that is on the 26th Feb. I then just need to wait another week until I will book my return journey! :j
I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.
  • Can anyone recommend the cheapest way to get from Glasgow to Leeds, leaving at 6am on a Monday and travelling back again at 5pm ish on a Friday, starting next month?

I will be doing the journey for the next 6 months. The cheapest I can get is two singles at about £55ish in total

    Many thanks

Using this link I can see single fares with one change for £15.

    Be quick though....finishes Dec 14

For weeks when you can't get reasonably priced Advance fares, there is an Anytime Return Glasgow - Leeds via Appleby. This is currently £45.60 and falls to £45.40 from 2 January 2010. The drawback is that there are not very many trains by this route. The only ones which may suit you are:

    Glasgow Cen 0710 - 0829 Carlisle 0853 - 1136 Leeds.
    Leeds 1756 - 2048 Carlisle 2118 - Glasgow Cen 2239.

The Off-Peak Return by any permitted route costs £81.70 in 2010.

If you find Advance fares more expensive than you want to pay, try searching by particular route, eg. via York, Appleby, Clapham (Yorks), Blackburn or Manchester. This shows more options.

Only valid for booking until 14 December. Need to print a voucher from the site.

There is a great choice of days and times. I have just booked several Newcastle- London returns.

Apologies if this has been already mentioned

An Advance Single from Brighton to Milton Keynes is available from Southern Railway's website for £4.50.
Dep Brighton 14:49, arr Milton Keynes 17:00.
Then an Off Peak Day Single from MK to Northampton will cost you £7.20, arriving at 17:49.
Book your tickets via Southern Railway's website and collect at a machine at Brighton Station before departure.

    Total = £11,70.

Wow !!!! You star. thank you.
If you see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck !!!!!! :D

I usually use East Coast Trains to find times and fares because I find it easier to use than some others.

An Off Peak Return via not London is £54.80 and will allow you a maximum of two hours in Darsham.
An Anytime return at £72.50, again via not London, will give the greatest flexibility.
Advance Singles Leicester-London and London-Darsham are available, and on Tuesday 22 December it is possible to do this trip for £53.00. This assumes that you will walk between St. Pancras and Liverpool Street... anything else makes it more expensive than a OffPeak Return.

Have a look and see if you can find anything suitable.
