0645, 1620 & 1940 departures on EasyJet for £18.99 :money:
(apparently you wont be able to book these any cheaper according to their website)0 -
Just wondering why I can't see any cheap Advance tickets on the Cross Country site? I normally book trains for the missus once or twice a month from York to Birmingham and return, and can get two singles for generally about £20 (best was £17, worst £25.50) - and do this about 2-3 weeks in advance.
Now trying for 26th Feb after 4pm and there's only one train at £18.50; the return on 2nd March after 10am is the same price
This makes the journey a whopping £37 and more importantly (if anyone from a train site is reading) - A DAMN SITE MORE THAN USING HER CAR when you add in time and cost of getting to and from the stations.
I've checked March and April and these fares just aren't there anymore (there's the odd £11.50 but that's about it) - have they just stopped issuing them?? I can see a lot of empty trains...
EDIT - I can get an £18.50 fare tomorrow!!! All this book early stuff seems to be BS now
Cross Country appear to be releasing very few advance tickets in the cheaper price bands, but have lots at the top advance rate (making it often cheaper to buy an off peak return)0 -
Well, they are pricing themselves out of the market. I've just fired a cheeky e-mail off, so will see how I get on. There are some cheap ones available in April£5k+ since Jul 2008.0

Wanting to go to Birmingham from London on Sunday 22nd Feb, return same day (arrive in Brum midday, return trip anytime after 6pm). Had seen advance tickets for £7 each but they're now about £40 a few days later! Curses...was holding out on confirmation from a couple of friends to join me on trip, but of course the delay in coming back to me has meant it's pretty much priced out. D'oh!
Any way of making this cheaper - or is the coach the only option? I'm collecting the Sun tokens for 2-for-1 deal, but there's 3 of us going, and it's still a bit steep :rotfl:0 -

You might find Chiltern Trains a bit cheaper - put route High Wycombe in the search engines0 -

You are trying to book too early - if you wait a week or two the cheaper advance tickets should be available.
The Saturday ones may come out way later than the Monday one BTW
That £66 is a buy on the day ticket.0 -

Friends going Aberdeen to Plymouth  Friday 6 Feb returning hopefully Mon 9 Feb, 2 adults with 1 child and fam railcard.
Any advice on cheapest and fairly easy route by train please
Not used to searching rail sites as live on island with no trains near, when visiting Mainland use car.0 -
I've posted this in Silver Savers but it's probably worth repeating here:
Until early April First Great Western are offering over 55s a £25 off peak return ticket between any two stations on FGW lines. Or £45 for first class travel.
£5 off for senior railcard holders.

No need to prebook unless you want reservations - you can buy on the day.0
