Thanks.
Beef (a cheap cut, can't remember which) slow cooked in wine and stock with shallots I think.0 -

Chump, if memory serves. £20 worth of beef, that I *do* remember, as they made a big deal of that amount of beef catering for 15 whole portions! (wow - anyone want to speculate how far some of our OSers could make that much beef go?...)
But if you were to tell them that they were going straight into that, it might be too much of a shock. No?
I'm not picking on you, btw0 -
Whilst I agree, I think that padding out with lentils and oats, etc is a step further into OS, and one that they may take in the future.

That is the right idea. Teach them the basics and they can learn as they go. I made a wonderful casserole with beef, wine, sundried tomatoes, dried porcini, concentrated oxtail soup etc and I added a pack of haricot beans that I had frozen. 1 ib of beef and I have ended with 3 very delicious meals for two. I don`t need to add beans but it is my choice because pulses are good for us
re the porcini. They were picked and dried by me so were free0 -
Thanks for the replies - £20 of beef for 3 meals!!
I think I'll see if it's on I-player as I'd like to see the great cauldron-ful that £20 makes;).
It's only a game

It was £2.67 per person and 15p per hot dog not per can.... that's if you watched the same show as the one I'm watching...
Dont really fancy the idea of potatoes smothered in sauce tho...
Yes, I said £2.76 per person in my post. And then I said I want to spend that on the WHOLE MEAL. £2.76 per person is a lot of money.
I thought she said 15p per can, but still BLUERGH at hot dog sausages.0
