I enjoyed tonights programme, much better than last weeks. The recipes were a bit more palatable, mind you I would have put loads of different veggies in the base if serving as a stew.
Next week 21k:eek: That would pay off what's left of my mortgage!
All that food wasted - All of us would save it and make some culinary masterpiece out of it.
The first thing to go would be the waste disposal unit! Then probably the husband.Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

It's fine if you can afford it, I guess (not being snobby or whatever, I genuinely mean that it's fine if someone can afford to).
I could do a restaurant quality meal for half that price (at a guess).0 -
I really enjoyed it, yes you could cook what they cooked for less but it's a TV programme so it's got to appeal to many and it's got to be achievable for them. They were not likely to go from high end to value in one step on camera.
I thought they did fantastically well, I was impressed at the way the worked together and the way they were all involved. I also though the kids were lovely and dealt with the change in a really positive manner.
Good programme :TPiglet

As I said earlier the children were happy to try different meals and already ate a large variety of foods many children turn their nose up at. So the boy hates mushrooms but in the scheme of things that was nothing.£2 Coins Savings Club 2012 is £4.............................NCFC member No: 00005.........

I think the kids were fab trying food they didnt like, i used to hate mushrooms tomato and onion i used to feel sick if i had to eat them now i love them. So i dont mind if mine wont eat them but they have to at least try them.
They like other foods that i am not keen on like mussels and battenburg cake = yuck!!!“most people give up just as they are about to achieve success”If you think you are going through hell keep going - Sir Winston ChurchillIf You Can't Change It, Change the Way You Think About It.SW, 13st5lb, -4 1/2, -1,(12st13.5lbs)0 -
My kids are quite good at eating what is put in front of them my DD is a vegetarian so I just adapt what everyone else is eating for her. My DH hates fish and peas and my DS hates Tomatoes - which I can't fathom because he loves ketchup and Tomato sauce based things, but I get around all of this with plenty of meal planning.
If some one wan's a particular thing I work round this by having one day that everyone can choose what they want as a treat - usually this ends up with me and DS having a fish meal DH having something meaty (a pork chop or a chicken breast) and DD has QuornBlessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

I'm the only person here who likes mushrooms and I love not having to share. :rotfl:
I am so enjoying this series. My children love it too and make all the MSE style comments like 'how much!' and 'you could get a lot more at Lidl' interspersed with 'they should get a slow-cooker' and 'I'd love to lick those mixers'.
I think I'm frugal but I have definitely tried harder this week.Katie.0 -

I completely agree- the recipes were good, the family really got stuck in and the children were willing to try things and helped out a lot. Plus they showed the true MSE spirit at the end when they said they had cut their weekly bill further since making the programme!:T0 -
The one thing I don't think they have factored in is the cost of the Gas/Electric to cook from scratch:eek:
Was that four ovens I saw in tonights prog ????
I always make sure my little oven is full before I put it on and I have bought an extra rack to make sure I can cook loads. (Why is it you only get one or two racks in an oven when the ideal is three racks):think:Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light
