I think I might treat myself to this book. I've been umm-ing and ahh-ing about it for a while but my weekly meal plans are in danger of becoming repetitive so hopefully it'll give me some inspiration0

Just had the Tuna pasta bake (from the store cupboard basics section) very tasty but needs a salad or something with it as the portions are quite smallDo not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

We did the daube of beef this last weekend (there are only two of us) we had the daube with mash and cabbage Sunday and Monday, the pasta Tuesday, Wednesday ad tonight AND we have enough frozen to make pasties over the weekend or next week.
The ingredients came to about £40 which we thought was a bit steep BUT it has done 5 nights and 2 lunches (or will do when the pasties are made) so for a family of four that would have been one main meal, two pasta nights (might need to pad it a bit!) and a lunchDo not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

That's still a helluva lot. When I make a beef casserole, I use 2lb of braising steak which costs about 6 quid, a bottle of beer (about £1.60), a couple of carrots, an onion, and half a pack of mushrooms. So, less than a tenner.
That makes enough (with mash) for 3 males for 2 meals as a casserole plus a large pie.0 -
We just had this for dinner-made to the recipe exactly(well, except I only had 20g coriander). It was delicious-really nice different way to use up the leftover chicken (although its not quite used up yet-have at least 1more meals worth=tomorrow night is leek, bacon, mushroom and chicken pasta)
The portion size is HUGE though. There is only 2 of us, but OH eats ALOT-and had second helpings (2 pretty big servings) I had a normal (slightly greedy person) sized serving, and I have 3 tubs with leftovers in it-one of 500ml I will have for my lunch tomorrow, and 2 x 750ml (prob about 650 ml in there) that will be frozen. So saying it would serve 4 is a slight exaggeration lol.
But would definately recommendYum. I haven't made a bad meal out of that book yet (the pork and brocolli lasagne is my FAVOURITE!)
