Thought the young lad was brilliant - and have to agree that it was wonderful to see him being 'dragged' in to do the stir-fry after the upset over the omelette...... Another  to the chefs (especially Paul, as I'm sure it was having a man overseeing that made it a more relaxed atmosphere) for encouraging him to have another try at cooking.

I was pleased to see they didn't try and get Mum to give up on Organics - and whilst I appreciate that these are more expensive I was a little shocked to hear the chefs implying they'd have tried it if they'd thought they could have got away with it

And we finally heard mention of using a freezer to save some of the food for use later (when she served the shepherd's pie) :T

I agree with PitlanePiglet (and not just because I think her username is great!! :rotfl:). I thought that Jordan was a lovely kid, and I liked his mum, too. Yes, she spent a lot on her food, but I found it difficult to criticise her (her overspending was in good faith, choosing "quality" and "organic" foods which she believed was in the best interest of her family, not just wasting food like a few of the families in the earlier weeks of this programme, which did have me shouting at the TV screen ). Let's face it, if money was no object to me, I would probably choose to shop in M&S :p, and living in London, I have in the past bought meat from Lidgate's (the "most expensive butcher in the world"!!) when I was shopping for special occasions, and I cannot fault them - they are very expensive but I have never had a bad piece of meat from them, and if I won the lottery this evening, I would transfer my weekly meat order to them without a second thought! ;)

I hope that they have learned from this evening's programme (and I think they will have done) - and I applaud the mum for immediately seeing the savings as funding Jordan's university education... :D I really hope that they take the lessons Paul and Allegra have shared and make full use of them. I like them (I liked the Cambridge students last week as well, but those 2 programmes have been my favourites so far - I feel able to relate to them, and I really hope they benefit from being on the programme :T).

P.S. I agree with PitlanePiglet that I think Allegra is a girl who knows how to "deal with" her wine ;):p:rolleyes:. PLP, when you and Allegra have that dinner, please send me an invite - I reckon the three of us would get along just fine over a couple of bottles!! :rotfl:

Eeuw. 'Kinwaa' ( Quinoa?) is strrraaange stuff! I'd prefer buckwheat, or couscous, or... most things lol

I'd been using Quinoa for about a year now and it is very tasty, versatile and easy to cook. Must admit it is dearer than rice etc but it can be mixed with couscous or rice to eke it out if necessary. It has protein in it so very good for vegetarian meals or when using smaller meat portions too.

It does look unusual I will admit though:p
