Been watching the show with interest. They could have done a weeks shopping for much cheaper. I did it for five of us on 20 quid a few weeks ago. I've posted about it in the food and groceries forum (in the wrong place so I've been told! Ooops!) It still makes good viewing though and we've got some good ideas from it.

I looked at your meal plan too and I'm interested to see what your shopping list had on it to feed your family for less than £3 a day specially because it includs nappys and wipes. If you have time would you post your recipes the veggie pie sounds good.

I've had a read of your meal plan ABmum. Great sounding cheap veggie meals there but I have to ask how your kids coped without a proper lunch (toast and a biscuit or scone) and just cornflakes or toast for breakfast? Mine wouldn't stand for it and I'd be worried about their ability to perform well at school.

Maybe it depends on the age of the child?

Mine (who are 3, 5 and nearly 7) have cereal for breakfast every day, although the older two often have a second breakfast at school breakfast club... When they are in school they have school dinners but at home we don't have big cooked lunches, usually a sandwich or a bowl of soup or something on toast. Having said that we did have pasties today, but that was only because I'd just made them.

Lots of good stuff in there :T.

Just a thought, if you wanted to save money on a long term basis have you considered cloth nappies and wipes?

I was rather surprised that they didn't shop at Cambridge market in the last programme. The fruit and veg stalls were excellent when we lived there.
Also can anyone who lives in Cambridge now tell me where the fishmonger they visited towards the end of the programme is?

I am ashamed to say I have never tasted Chorizo. I'm scared of those weird and wonderful german style sausages! What does it taste like if that's not too odd a question?

Have you tried pepperoni? That's probably what I would liken it to - spicy sausage

Chorizo is Spanish. It's pronounced choreetho;) It has a smoky taste and is very very nice:drool: It's good with chicken, chickpeas, potatoes, peppers and fried eggs -not necessarily altogether.

It's yum :D The sausage has paprika in it so it's a bit more orange (think celeb fake tan :rotfl:) than the other sausages. I eat slices of it while cooking but it gives a great depth of flavor to lots of tomato sauces. chicken and chorizo stew is particularly good
