Am so glad you like them:T I made some on Monday - they're nearly all gone now
Funnily enough I did wonder about the egg when I was typing the recipe out, I wouldn't worry personally but you could miss it out and I don't see that it would make any difference to the topping. Perhaps you could do a recipe search for a fudgey icing topping to use as a substitute if you are really concerned? 40+ years ago, we didn't know about samnonella:p

Quick question is it LEVEL tablespoons of cocoa powder I should use please?

I used heaped tablespoons of cocoa

    Here you go.

Chorizo....with chicken, chickpeas, potatoes, peppers and fried eggs

Never mind "not necessarily together" - serve me up that little lot with a good hunk of bread and butter and an icy glass of white wine and you've got one happy chappy :)

    Good thinking there, Thriftlady! ;)
Oh come on, don't be silly.

You can get the cooking chorizo in costco if you have a card. HTH.

I was rather surprised that they didn't shop at Cambridge market in the last programme. The fruit and veg stalls were excellent when we lived there.
Also can anyone who lives in Cambridge now tell me where the fishmonger they visited towards the end of the programme is?

It was a Loch Fyne fishcounter, but the looks of it. If it's anything like the LF in our village, then it won't be the most economical of the gastronomical places to purchase fish!

Lidl sell a really, really great chorizo sausage...it's vacumn sealed so you'll find it on the shelves near the chill cabinet with all the other dried cured sausage things. It's only £2.40-ish as well, for a huge one, so a good buy.

A fennel head can vary in size but about the size of a man's fist would be average. They are sort of aniseedy in flavour. I put some mushrooms in instead. I also used some pork sausagemeat that I had in the freezer rather than buying mince, rolled it into balls and baked them in the oven for ten minutes rather than frying them. I used a pinch of mixed dried herbs too. No, it's not the correct recipe but it tasted fine and meant I used up what I had in the fridge and freezer.

Mmmm can vouch for the Lidl big chorizo and Salamis.
