  • I like the programme. I'm gobsmacked at how bad people's food budgeting is and their diets, but I'm enjoying the recipes. I don't believe in throwing any food away!

I was surprised at the family not eating together. I have 4 sons and we always ate together in the evening and Sunday lunch was an always get together.

Last year, my best friend and I made the decision to plan our meals and not to throw anything away, we and our families love it.

I've got the book and these recipes aren't in it ( unless I've missed them but I've read it cover to cover & I'm sure as I can be they're not there). I quite fancied having a go at the milkshake, I've got peanut butter , milk & ice cream in - will have to go and try a wee experiment.

I also loved their house and was so jealous of it I didnt want to like them and wanted them to fail, what a meanie I am!
I'd like some more time realistic receipes as i loved the look of the bajhjis and dahl but it would have taken an hour and half.
Really inspired to make fishcakes now, make our own burgers (pork and apple are our fave) but am fancying some fishcakes with leftover mash (doesnt usually get leftover here though! lol)

And why does she not make a list? 5 lots of mustard:confused: I sometimes forget to take my list with me  but have a pad in the kitchen where I write things on as I use them up. No wonder tescos and the like make so much money if people just wander round putting random things in their trolleys!

No deep frying for me, too much of a fire risk!

I haven't had a deep fryer for years.

I made Onion Bhajis last night, in the oven with spray olive oil, I think maybe I need to cook the onion before I make the bhajis doing it this way.

There is a lovely butternut squash recipe on the Waitrose website if you don't like the EG one.
