  • I hate to admit that I am of an age that I remember the 60's and that is what people were fed in those days.

Lidl s have pizzas on offer at 2 for £1.20 which are much more appealing than those produced on the programme. Their costings re home made /shop bought seem seriously lacking at times.
But they're probably comparing what the family USED to spend on the equivalent, and the L!dl pizzas aren't anywhere as big as the homemade one looked

  • I am sure Allegra and Paul have a spy on this forum !
I did chuckle to myself when they suggested only taking cash when going shopping.:rotfl:
Can't wait to see how they get on with next week's students.

  • The one gripe I have about the base recipe is that you have to live on more or less the same meat/fish for a week, where I would make a variety of meals using different stuff and freeze
Maybe they should do a month's menu and that way you will not be living on the same sort of meal for a week

I think they had Salmon as much as they did as they said Salmon was the one thing that all the children (including the non-meat eater) agree on...... so it minimised how many days they had to cook at least 2 versions of the meal.

I personally wouldn't use fish that much in a week as my son would object, but could have salmon several days if just me. We normally have mince based meals at least twice a week, but they're different enough not to notice it (I do at least two non-mince meals between them)

I found the family didn't take it that seriously, at the end when they asked if they still had meals as a family, he said yes, looked at each other and giggled, like they were being naughty and telling a fib. That's just my perception though.

The girl also isn't a vegetarian if she eats fish.

I bought the recipe book and the peanut butter milkshake isn't in it, I'm most annoyed!! I wanted to try that!

While I do love the programme, and the recipes (I'm gonna give the treacle tart a go!) it does still annoy me slightly.

I work full time and wonder if the mums on the programmes do as well? NO WAY would I have the time to spend making all that stuff. I do well at the moment, throwing together some meals at the weekend to stick in the freezer but the amount of time they were spending looked insane.... And if I was to have fish every night my kids would kill me....:rotfl:

My word, what a loathsome family last night. It's always the same silly type of people who want to make out like they've got ever-so-much-money but they haven't really.

Why not shop at ASDA rather than Sainsburys to save money right from the off? Ghastly.

Allegra is a beautiful looking woman, mind.
