We don't make pizza from scratch, I buy the base & we make pizza. Its far better than any Lidls or any cheap/medium price pizza (I would rate it up with Pizza Hut).
No way on earth is any homemade pizza bettered by Lidls!0 -

Butterfly_Brain wrote: »The one gripe I have about the base recipe is that you have to live on more or less the same meat/fish for a week, where I would make a variety of meals using different stuff and freeze
Maybe they should do a month's menu and that way you will not be living on the same sort of meal for a week
I don't really like to eat the same protein two nights running, much less all week.
Can't really freeze as I never have room (with all my Salmon, beef & chicken bought in bulk when its on offer).0 -
We watched all 3 episodes last night and didn't agree with "only buy what's on your list and ignore all the offers". Surely, it would be better to plan your meals around the offers! As long as you don't buy stuff you wouldn't normally use, then it would be cheaper in the long run. We did enjoy watching it though, and it made us feel really good, because we don't spend anything like that on food and we certainly don't waste it.0

Why not shop at ASDA rather than Sainsburys to save money right from the off? Ghastly.
Allegra is a beautiful looking woman, mind.
I don't think they were loathsome & I thought the kids really open about trying new things.
However I did notice when they were rumagining through the freezer to look for stuff for the dinner party they had a loaf of basics bread;)
Now I wouldn't buy basics bread & I spend a lot less than £400 pw on shopping. How can people who spend £400 pw be buying anything from the basics range:rolleyes:0 -

I really enjoyed last nights programme again. I am not that keen on salmon but see how it worked for the family. As the mum said last night it was taking longer as she was reading the recipes - when she knows them will be a lot quicker.
I appreciate that working Mums will find it hard to fit everything in but its important to me that we eat good wholesome hm meals-every one has different priorities - I am very lucky that I work from home.
Last night we had hm pizza, no way is it cheaper than supermarkets however we have one large pizza & each put different toppings on our quarter - kids dont like my anchovies! I make the dough in the breadmaker & its lovely - I dont think about the price but it makes for a good hm meal. Am happy that discovered a local netto that does mozzarella a lot cheaper than tesco.
Am looking forward to next weeks show.0 -
When they had friends round for dinner and put together a meal......did they use frozen prawns?
That house has an uncanny resemblance to mine actually
It's a good programme and Allegra is such an enthusiastic jolly character.0 -

You can't say that without having tried Lidl's pizzaAnd to be fair, your pizza isn't "home-made" it's "home-assembled"
I watched the prog for the first time last night (well, the first 15mins, before I was invaded by teenaged boys  and football  ). I liked what I saw and am looking forward to seeing the rest.

We cook all meals from scratch and grow enough veg at the moment not to have to buy any of it in and love home made bread but NOTHING beats the cheap bread for a toasted bacon butty. :rotfl: That's my absolute weakness.0
