I wrapped my cheese in greaseproof paper and kept out of fridge, but within 1 day it had gone hard, yellow and white spots on it. Plus when I unwrapped it the paper was covered in oil.
Is it because I was storing Davidstowe Cheddar outside the fridge, or was I doing something wrong?0 -
I've tried using greasproof to wrap my cheese with in the fridge. It went hard too;)
I use Davidstow and find it is absolutely fine kept in the loose packet it is sold in in the fridge. Sometimes I store it in a plastic tub in the fridge. It always tastes delicious.0 -

They used WAX paper on the programme. Would that make a difference?0 -

There are 'signed' repeats in the early hours of Saturday morning.

My MrM does stock these cuts of meat and I've been buying them for years. Skirt has always been one of our favourite cheaper cuts and casserole beautifully.
They are really good at mine too if I want something cut differently from on the shelf. Ask at the counter and they'll slice off exactly what you want in the thickness that you need.AUGUST GROCERY CHALLENGE £115.93/ £250

the steak's not the only anomally.
in one of the episodes allegra finds a bottle of chicken stock and comments that at least the family have that in their fridge. strangely the bottle is identical to one photographed for the book (i now have in my possession)
i noticed this because i freeze my stock and thought it unusual to bottle it.
having said that the series is good and the book excellent, i just have nothing better to do than look for continuity errors...oh i'm such a geek :rotfl:Wins: 2008: £606.10 2009: £806.24 2010: £713.47 2011: 328.320 -

It got me thinking about how much we waste and I've just started reading this
Waste by Tristram Stuart, toe curling accounts of just how much supermarkets put in the rubbish. I'm not a natural Freegan, but oh the shame of wasting food like that.
Its disgusting isn't it. They should give it to homeless charities.0
