My dh started a residents group and later another important group and he and just 2 others do a massive amount of work. All we hear from people with suggestions is " someone could organise it" WHO!!!
But there is no point someone who hasn't got the time to put into it volunteering to run it as it will fall flat at the first hurdle. As you say your husband puts in a lot of work to the things which he is involved with, anyone who did take it on would need to realise that and be sure that they could handle the amount of work. I know that I wouldn't have the time to dedicate to doing it properly as I am already on committees trying to raise £120k to relocate the nursery school and £500k to rebuild the village hall, as well as being secretary of the PTA this year, as well as working, volunteering in the school and having three children of my own. So it would be silly of me to say that I could organise a campaign, however strongly I felt about the subject!0 -

I don't have this particular recipe, but whenever i've used a recipe that calls for strong coffee it means made with water, not just granules added to the mix.0 -

I just thought I would let you know about a successful 'waste' food scheme that I'm involved in. A local food manufacturer has lots of food (frozen) that is below standard visually. It isn't inedible, but has been rejected because of its appearance. They offer it to local homeless charities but it has to be collected (where I come in!). This reduces their waste levels, one of their KPIs, and benefits the hostel, who I'm sure aren't really bothered if their food isn't visually perfect.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

I watched last week's programme after transmission as I was out and have deliberately kept off this thread until after I had seen it. I still don't know how they managed to spend so much!
Is it me or are these chefs obsessed with chilli and garlic? It seemed like every recipe (even one of the puddings!) had chilli in! What is it with all this spicy food - what's wrong with plain and simple ? Apart from the brownies I don't think I could have eaten anything else they cooked!
However, I do think that getting the family to reduce their budget by a third was an achievement- we all have to start somewhere! Can't wait to see the next episode - but will have to watch this later in the week too as have APs visiting and will be taking them to the theatre for a treat.

For anyone who was confused about the 'chuck steak' apparently it is the same thing as braising steak, it's the shoulder part above brisket. I always think 'scrag end' of lamb sounds repulsive, neck definitely sounds a bit better!
I got the book yesterday, just managed to get my order in for the £9 one, I am very impressed, some really nice recipes in there and I am pretty sure my fussy husband will eat most of them too!

The cookie mix did look really runny on the TV... Could you pour it all onto the tray (presuming it has a lip) and bake it as one big cookie then cut it into squares before it cools completely?0
