I hate cook books full of starts, soups, puddings & breakfasts:rolleyes:
I do a main meal nearly 365 days of the year, I rarely do starters, not many soups or puds & I'm never going to make anything other than what I do now for breakfast:cool:
I like cook books full of main meals, is EG full of main meals then:T:j0 -

My book arrived today and it is lovely. I was very pleasantly surprised. I am going to enjoy sitting in a recliner later with a nice cup of tea and this lovely book to browse. Worth the £9 for readability alone0

If on the above link you do a search for recipes from Economy Gastronomy, it brings up 13 of them, including the navarin of lamb, 'KFC' etc0 -
Boooo! I have just gone onto Amazon to order the book and it is now £10! Well done to all of you who got it for £9. I made the Chocolate Brownie Cookies yesterday. They are really fantastic. I have had to ration them to my DS or else they would all be gone by the time I got home. I was a bit worried as I was making them as the mixture doesn't have much flour in it and it is more of a batter mix than a cake/biscuit mix. They turned out great though and we'll definitely have them again.Sealed Pot Challenge #8 £341.90

Mine arrived Saturday - the first cookery book I have bought for ages that actually makes me want to cook. Sitting at my desk with the red pepper humus (yum) planning what to do with the rest of yesterday's pork shoulder.
When I am not working I will definitely do some of the bedrock recipes and freeze for later.
Definitely a 'hit' as far as I am concerned.

I did a search on mysupermarket for chuck steak and none of the 4 listed supermarkets stocked it (not by that name anyway) [Asda, Sainsburys, Tesco, Ocado]
Same thing when searching for scrag end (of lamb).
Any half decent butcher will sell you chuck or scrag end.
Waitrose might do chuck steak I know they do pig cheeks, oxtail, tongue etc
Once you buy meat from a good butcher though you will never go back to the supermarket stuff!"The happiest of people don't necessarily have the

of everything that comes along their way."

I'm the same, I don't think I have EVER made a starter, We stick with (brown) cereal and (wholemeal) toast for breakfast, and only the kids have puddings which is usually yoghurt or occasionally ice-cream/ice-lollies... Whereas I cook a main meal every night except the odd chippy/take-away meal.
I do like to do a little bit of baking with the kids of cupcakes or biscuits, so will either have them as a pudding or keep them for a supper treat with a glass of milk.
I have also been trying to do a bit of batch cooking, so this book seems perfect for me. It will hopefully give me a few ideas that I can adapt to what we like:)
It's a shame the programme isn't on this week isn't it:rolleyes:

Sorry to hear that Reverbe... tough times when there's no wine to relax with but then lately I have been stopping the wine too to save cash and we've had G&T's instead.
Had a quick search but does anyone have the recipe for:
- Bakewell
- Pasties
Would love to try these out!MFW #185
