Well this is none of your concern is it? And is in no way related to the question I asked.

This thread was so interesting and now all the judgemental people seemed to have jumped on it and decided that I am not fit to have a dog  Do you not think people with depression have dogs?

No but if I lived next door to a dog that was neglected in any way I would have to report it...

Not judging but you don't have to own a dog to be a dog lover, sometimes people choose not to own one just because their cirmcumstances don't suit.

Yes no doubt they are a great help (or can be) but if a person isn't capable of working more than 8 hours per week due to their health then I do worry about the capabilities of looking after an animal that requires alot of attention.

Not every case is the same and as we don't know the OP and what her capabilities are exactly (only what she/he has said on this thread).

She has already declared that offering to volunteer with dog walking or such like would be too much....

Sorry but I'm not judging and I might be wrong...but a dog is for life and can be hard work....

Well you are judging obviously.

I don't live alone, so it wouldn't all be down to me. I wouldn't be doing this all by myself. So could you please do me a favour and stop assuming things? You don't know me and you don't know my home situation.

Again, i'm really unsure how any of this is relevant to my question about why the LL won't let me have a dog

And that's great for you. But is in no way relevant to me.

You keep saying you're not judging but you are. So if you're going to do it, at least be man enough to admit it.

Well I did state in my initial post that it really is pointless in discussing because the LL has already said no.

And yet you continued to judge and discuss

By suggesting I cannot take care of a dog because I suffer from depression is very judgemental.

OK this is going nowhere, I justified myself because I hate people getting the wrong impression and jumping to conclusions but appears some people are happy not knowing the facts.

I'll reply when I hear back from the LL.

I suppose it won't matter seeing that you aren't allowed a dog but if you suffer from depression etc. what I'd be worried about is whether you'd be fit enough to continue with looking after the puppy/dog.

The last thing you want is to find you cannot cope or whatever and then find yourself having to get rid of it.

This is what I would call judging - you imply that you'd be concerned whether the OP would be fit to care for a dog because she has depression

Hmm fair dos, I suppose you could imply that, although I think my judgement was more based on fact, the OP stated her/himself that they are limited to 8 hours per week due to ill health...

If they cannot physically look after the dog then that is a worry.

I am only going off what was being said....

I may have put it wrongly...it isn't so much because you suffer from depression but you did also state that you aren't able to take on much....so I can only go off that...

Dogs are well known for helping people who suffer with mild depression or for children with learning needs.

Hayley don't worry as I know that you will provide a dog with a good home x
