I suppose it won't matter seeing that you aren't allowed a dog but if you suffer from depression etc. what I'd be worried about is whether you'd be fit enough to continue with looking after the puppy/dog.

The last thing you want is to find you cannot cope or whatever and then find yourself having to get rid of it.

Well this is none of your concern is it? And is in no way related to the question I asked.

This thread was so interesting and now all the judgemental people seemed to have jumped on it and decided that I am not fit to have a dog  Do you not think people with depression have dogs?

    what an insult !

being depressed doesn't necessarily make someone incapable of looking after an animal

animals can be a great help during such times

I had depression....my colleagues, friends, husband, child, dog, frogs and snake have all come through it unscathed

Thank you, i'm glad it wasn't just me that found that offensive.

Some people just don't have a clue do they?

Sorry to hyjack the tread but on a similar theme...

We are due to move to a new rental on 15th August. I checked prior to viewing the property that they would be ok with my rabbits (Outdoors). They agreed. They've since sent us an overview of the tenancy agreement which says no pets without prior concent. Am I correct in thinking I need them to ok the rabbits in writting?

You might just want to check with them again that it's okay to keep rabbits outdoors. Assuming they're going to be in a hutch or some kind of enclosure, I shouldn't think you need to get anything in writing, as they're unlikely to damage the house or garden.

Yes no doubt they are a great help (or can be) but if a person isn't capable of working more than 8 hours per week due to their health then I do worry about the capabilities of looking after an animal that requires alot of attention.

Not every case is the same and as we don't know the OP and what her capabilities are exactly (only what she/he has said on this thread).

She has already declared that offering to volunteer with dog walking or such like would be too much....

Sorry but I'm not judging and I might be wrong...but a dog is for life and can be hard work....
