My friend also resigned through the bullying & still took it to tribunal. I do know you can speak to the Jobcentre about tribunals & help in gaining Job seekers after resigning.

You could also try one of those no win no fee solicitors.

Good Luck with the car boot!

    Hi hettiecaro

I'd say welcome, but I'm a bit late. Still, I've just read your thread through, and wow, you've been doing well. I pottered through your SOA, and saw someone had made a comment about your gas and elec, noting that your house may be a larger one and whatnot. Any news on that? Mind you, it looks like you've been so busy selling, you've not had time to do anything else. But bear in mind, the less outgoings, the less new debt you're creating... and why *should* they get more of your money than they're entitled to!

I'm your sort of age, living down south, tho my mum is still very much with me. I've got a failing business to sort out and swine flu to be finally got over..... this post will subscribe me, and I'll keep coming on here.

    Good for you!

Our CAB has an employment specialist who deals with cases such as constructive dismissal. It might be worth giving your local bureau a call/visit and see if they can help.
  • Thanks so much for this advice. I will make an appointment with them.

Thanks so much for your response. My OH is currently investigating the charge on Gas & electric so will post response when I know more.

I hope your swine flu gets better and that it wasn't one of the severe cases.

:rotfl:Hey Katy - You'll be worth money at your local restaurant - suggest you sell yourself!

This made me chuckle, thanks for that.

I think that what you describe is indeed constructive unfair dismissal. The constructive bit means that it doesn't matter that you resigned as you had little choice. Is there a Law Centre near you where you could get free advice on taking a claim? If not the CAB could help.

I'm totally impressed by what you have achieved in such a short time. WOW

Have made appt with employment specialist at CAB for next Tuesday. Will keep you posted - and thanks for your interest. It's hard some days. Seems like you've done REALLY well if I'm reading your statement right.

    Thanks hettie,

I too am your sort of age. we took in foreign students for a year to help pay off everything. i had 4 at one point! As well as our daughter. Had fun cooking puds of the old fashioned sort for them. if you have spare rooms could you take a lodger (less hassle but more permanent) or students. If you're near a big town perhaps someone might want a room Mon to Thurs, going home at weekends.

Thanks so much for your response. My OH is currently investigating the charge on Gas & electric so will post response when I know more. Excellent - your OH really sounds onside.

I hope your swine flu gets better and that it wasn't one of the severe cases. It wasn't, thank you! But its still flu, groan groan moan, and its gone on for weeks and I'm **bored** with being ill now. Tho still appreciative of it *not* being one of the severe cases.

How are things with your business at the moment?

Its a long term thing, its time has come really, I've been doing it for more than 20 years, and the market has just gone downhill gradually. Now accelerating! I have another career move lined up, its just been scary to take the plunge after such a long time doing one thing.

Constructive dismissal sounds a real possibility for you - I've always understood it to mean that your situation was made practically impossible, not that you were given your notice, and it sounds like thats what happened to you.

How would you feel about lodgers? I did it while my business was starting up, but right now it wouldn't be practicable for me. And I must say, in my 50s, I feel like I *need* my privacy :o
