Hi hettie
It sounds like a good plan, and if you haven't been able to make payments for 6months they should be much more likely to accept reduced offers, or pass your debt to a DCA who then may accept the offer.
I understand about feeling disloyal to your Mum re the furniture, what I would suggest (and its not very moneysaving) is for you to chose a couple of items that either you really like, or your mum really liked and keep them for the time being. If it comes to it that you have to sell them in the future it will still be an option but maybe hold on to them for at least 6months, as you never know what might happen and once sold you can't get them back.

Perhaps your best bet is to try and go for full and final settlements as per your plan - then apply for benefits as you won't then have any cash floating around to affect your benefits? I'm not an expert so I don't know.
Also assuming you get your full and final settlements and then claim benefits would you be eleigible for some help towards insulating your home and hopefully bringing your energy bills down? I know this is a long way in the fututure but you can always come back to this thread as you go along.

Just wanted to say, well done, your plan of action sounds ideal and I wish you all the best. Hope you have success in getting your f&f settlements and I completely agree that your health is by far the most important thing here.

Hi Tixy
I'd echo what df says, what did CCCS say to do longer term?
They want to wait for the first reaction to the letters then re-assess the situation. Overall they think that if I have any disposal assets except the house, it will go 'well with them' that in spite of my health problems I am trying to sort this out.
Problem is - are the FI's such anthropologists?

With regards to being disloyal to your Mum and me taking a hard-faced approach to it...
It sounds like you were an extremeley loving, caring and giving daughter and made your Mum's life as happy as you possibly could.
You are now left with all this stress and debt and I can say that under no uncertain times would you be being disloyal to her for using some of her items to pay off your debts.
You devoted such a large amount of your life to making sure that she was content and now it's time for you to be selfish and to concentrate on making yourself happy.
All of the advice given on these forums is excellent and this situation WILL get sorted.

I agree with this, it seems that you have 19k that you could free up fairly easily.

Hi Hettie
Come and join us on the ebay challenge.

It gives your mind something to do when it all gets too much. We have a lady on there who has made £1300 in July alone, but she is more dedicated than the rest of us i think.
