Hello there Hettiecarro,
Firstly, sending a big hug.
Just wanted to say that you are not alone, I have just left a very well paid job in banking because of depression - I knmow how hard it is. I'm now doing some care work and I love it - no stress and not having to work with nasty self obsessed people (like I used to) is lovely. I'm on minimum wage but I don't care.
Your health comes first. I'm a better Mum and wife for not having the stress.
I've just started a DMP with CCCS and I honestly think it saved my life. I am stronger than I have been in years. I can't rate them highly enough.
Please stick around - the people on this board are amazing.

Well done on sorting out a new bank account Hettiecarro, that's a good start.
Think about your shopping habits - do you have Aldi's or Lidl's near you? Try them if you haven't done so already. is there a local market or greengrocer where you can get fruit and veg cheaper and better quality than in supermarkets? Likewise meat from a local butcher? Once your new bank account is up and running, get into the habit of reconciling your bank statements to the last penny. Keep an accounts book so you can do this.
Once you have sorted out some kind of repayment scheme for your debts, brace yourself for some stroppy letters and phone calls from your creditors - there will be a few of these before things settle down, but CCCS and us lot on here will offer you support and advice on how to deal with any correspondence.
You are in for an exciting ride which will be rough in places but you can and will handle it. We have all been there (some of us still are!)One life - your life - live it!0 -
even better - have you space to grow your own veg etc - cuts down on food shops - i know its not huge amounts but it a small step - plus its very relaxing and tkes your mind off other orries even if only for a short time. xxxO/S Debt: PL £[STRIKE]15207.34[/STRIKE] £9884.55; HSBC £4060.99; Tesco£1430.15; M&S £5990.17; Virgin [STRIKE]£5158.69[/STRIKE] £4210.14; Egg £4619.00; O/S = ££30,292.42 AIM - To Be Debt Free 56 months0

hi hettie
was just reading through your thread and although im no help on the debt side of things i just thought that you may be elegible to apply for DLA if you have care and/or mobility needs from your illness plus you could apply for ESA.0 -
Just an afterthought.......your cars being worth £13,000
If you do need two....could you not sell them then buy smaller cheaper ones and save the extra cash for paying off debts. Smaller car may be cheaper to run, tax and insure?
****Edit - sorry, I missed your earlier post about selling one car - silly me. Still though, maybe you could trade the remaining one in for a smaller run-a-round?***HSBC Loan [STRIKE]£5845.83[/STRIKE] £2500 Barclay Card [STRIKE]£1085.76[/STRIKE] £592.74 Barclays Overdraft [STRIKE]£1100[/STRIKE] £600

My partner has been exceptionally good about all this. The sky package is really the only thing he has of his own - he is a sport fanatic. He has already given up his football trips and any other social activities - so I am loath to ask him to do this aswell.
Groceries etc. ......................... 200 Could this be cut down on by shopping somewhere else like Lidl/Aldi or Asda?
Am going back to the 'home cooking' thing - was good at it years ago. I've also started a budget diary so may be able to report some improvement soon.
Clothing................................ 10 I know this is a small amount but maybe put monthly clothes shopping on hold for a while?
You're absolutely right about this. Part of the problem was the clothes buying trips with my Mum - hence I need to do some ebaying to shift stuff on.
Car Insurance........................... 36 Have you tried shopping around to make sure you are getting the best deals?
I can try a few others, though I did shop around quite a bit. I had a company car for over 20 years so had no 'no claims' or anything.
I'm about to send the letters to tell my creditors stating that I can't pay them.
I just want to go to bed and put the duvet over my head - while I've still got one!- sorry - feeling sorry for myself - and I shouldn't be!
