Well the jackpot didn't go off but I did win $20. I practically type the same thing every Monday night. :D I'm in two minds what to do about going to sleep. DH will wake me up around 11.45pm when he gets in. On Friday night I had been asleep about 3/4 hours and then he woke me. It took hours before I got to sleep. Decisions, decisions. :D

DS2 just rang. He's arriving down here on Saturday.

Haribo You better make that a very very big coffee. :D CM is busy. She's taken to sitting outside doing slug patrol on her veggies. :D No time for MSE atm.
Squiggly You grate potato & carrot. Add a chopped onion, 1 tbsp curry powder, 1 egg, 1 tbsp SR Flour, salt & pepper. Fry in oil.
    :hello: to the new posters.
ivyleaf Glad to hear you don't think it's piggy flu.
ruby If you've got nothing in the house, milk is good to wash your eye in for conjunctivitis. Just think, being OS, you can use it for your cuppa afterwards. :D

Enjoy the rest of your day. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning Everyone

another wet and miserable day here with no hope of immediate improvement until at least weekend according to the weather forecast:mad:

Been out into the paddy field we laughingly call a garden this morning inspecting the veggies and I'm chuffed to little bits as my beans are finally beginning to get tiny little pods on them:j.Still doing battle with slugs, snails and caterpillars though:mad:.OH is in the process of building me another raised bed so I'll be able to get some brussels and carrots into that one:D

On a domestic note OH has gone back to work after 3weeks off and I'm just beginning to return the house to some sort of normality.Monday is my deskanking downstairs day and tbh it isnt too bad.Tomorrow will be upstairs which is a whole different story:o.I've stuck some washing out on the line as we seem to be having a dry patch at the moment.Dont know if it will last long enough to get the washing dry though.

I'm making the kids Tuna Pasta Bake for tea with Roast Chicken salad for me and OH.Pudding will be chocolate sponge and chocolate custard for the kids and Strawberry Cheesecake for me and OH

MSD-Glad you heard from Tristan and if he's well enough to be crammed then he must be improving;)

pp-Nice to see you back and such a shame the hol was marred with a hospital visit but glad you had a nice time anyway

Halight-Crikey petal you are having things rough at the moment lets hope the docs can sort things out for you to at least make you pain free again

Well it's all stations go today with the in-laws over tackling a particularly 'wild' area of the garden. It's a bank at the front that has gradually been taken over by ivy and some pink fluffy flower things. They are leaving some of the flowers but stripping all the ivy and the few brambles too. This will also mean the picket fence at the top of the bank will be clear ready for painting. I have lots of lavender bushes I want to plant down there once it's done which will give some a few less pots on my over-crowded patio!

Am tackling the shower curtains today. Spraying bleach on the bottoms and throwing them in the washing machine with an old towel and some vinegar in the hope the pink tinge leaves them! Have friends coming to dinner tomorrow night who have never been to my flat, so making sure the bathroom and lounge look as good as they can!

Food wise we have taken some braising steak out of the freezer so it will be some kind of casserole tonight no doubt. I always keep my celery in a glass of water on the side but after hearing about the tin foil and fridge method I am going to try that with the next one.

Have a good day everyone. Warm gentle hugs.gif to anyone who would like one.

Oh lordy, gotta tell someone, my dd's have cleaned their rooms! I can see carpets and window sills and surfaces! They've hoovered as well! Think I might need to have a lie down from the shock!

os wise I've been cleaning the fridge, not because I wanted to but cos oh will give me a lecture otherwise - damn those food hygiene regs! Actually wasn't too scary, just a bit of soggy stuck on cucumber at the back of the salad drawer, unnoticed as it was so full!

  • Discovered yesterday that one of the freezers had been left open all weekend so I defrosted and cleaned that out and we had a real hotch potch of things for tea. All the raspberry cheesecake muffins defrosted so I will have to make a concerted effort to eat them all before they go off.

Raspberry cheesecake muffins sound delish :D Any chance of the recipe - pretty please :D
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

    Hi Everyone,

MSD, I just take down the shower curtains and leave them in the bath, soaking in a bleach solution for a few hours, then wash them as normal and they come out like new.

Didn't finidh the ironing mountain yesterday - I was taking a break and DH decided to clear away the iron and board. I don't know why he never does it normally grr. I couldn't be bothered to set it back up again.

Cooked some lovely beef enchiladas for dinner but used bought corn tortillas, I used to make them myself but they're a bit messy to do and the bought ones worked just as well so I shall keep on using them in future. The recipe is dead easy and much cheaper than buying el paso sauces etc.

I need to de-clutter the kitchen tonight to get rid of all the random paperwork on the worktops, I'm another who is terrible at filing.

It was more or less my basic muffin recipe of 3 eggs, 150g caster sugar, 300g self raising flour and 100g raspberries but instead of oil I used 150g of melted butter and added 200g of cream cheese.

Mix the cream cheese and sugar, add the eggs and finally the melted butter.
Mix the flour with the raspberries and combine both mixtures.

    180 degrees for 15 minutes. :D

Bitsy - the kitchen roll stood up better than tissue or loo roll would have done! I did manage to get it all out, and didn't find any in the next wash, so I will obviously tell him off but with my medium-cross voice and not my fuming-raging-almost-tearful one!

Ivyleaf - glad you don't think it's swine flu.

Well, I still haven't been out. I had phone calls to make this morning but one of them was to Direct Line and it took forever to get through. As the shops close from 12 to 2pm, I ran out of time so I'll have to go out this afternoon.

Hope everyone is having a good day.

  • Snoozer - that seems a lot easier but I don't have a bath to soak them in! Last time to get the bottom seams clean I filled two buckets with bleach and water and sat the ends of the curtains in them for an hour or so and that really shifted it!
Haribo - those muffins sound delicious!
Mioliere - we swapped to Direct line this year for our contents insurance as their half price offer was practically unbeatable.
Lesley - Nice to see you hon! And I think half the reason he gets ratty is because he hates being 'ill'.:rotfl:

Rain has stopped play in the garden. They have been out there since around 0900ish with the sun shining but a big grey cloud just appeared and so they are sheltering!

Trying to decide what to have for lunch. We have some part baked rolls in the cupboard so probably those for the in-laws and cheese and crackers for us as I have some half fat cheddar I am trying to eat up. It tastes Ok but it has a slightly strange texture.
