Hi there! This is the Daily Thread for Sunday 26th July! This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good.
Oh where is everyone?!
Anyway good morning. Isn't raining at the moment but everywhere is still sodden so assume it carried on during the night.
Went out on slug patrol last night and couldn't see any of them but I bet they're sitting and waiting til I leave!!! I have a lovely head of cauliflower that I am not sure whether to cut or leave to see if it grows anymore. Some of my veggies towards the back aren't producing the curds as fast and I think it's due to the size of the plants at the front. Think they are blocking some of the sun light. Might have to go trim some leaves today.
Having a new dining table delivered today. There will be some assembly required so will have to sit around in the box waiting til H gets home. Hmmmm not sure my impatience will last that long
Turkey and broccili pasta for tea (although I appear to have forgotten the prequisite creme fraiche - oh well can wing it and see if a light cheesey sauce can substitute!).
Have joined the Flylady thread as despite having my rota of housework I never seem to stick to it (or indeed do much housework). Perhaps having it logged on that thread will inspire me to stick to it!
have a good day all OS or not.
Hugs to those that need it and I am very sorry I've not looked at the birthdays so if its your birthday today then best wishes for you too

Morning. Cool and overcast here. Pretty soggy from yesterdays rain and set to continue this week some more. Had a great roast yeaterday with home grown veg. The carrots seems to like the wet anyways. Purple podded peas were OK, but such a nuicance to pick and shell.
Rhubarb was also superb too. Need sun now for the bees and corn to do well.
Work day today, cleaning out hen houses and cutting grass. Might buy a new strimmer today, I fancy spending some money and getting a Stihl one, just need to negotiate a deal.
Well, have a good day, cheersNO to pasty tax We won!!!! Just shows that people power works! Don't be apathetic to your cause!0 -
Morning Bitsy, N9eav & all to follow.
Had a really productive day yesterday, got a years worth of filing done (am never going to let it build up like that again) and my accounts ready for the accountant. Was in the office all day but it looks a lot better for it, and a weight off my mind too.
N9eav we too had a roast with loads of home grown veggies. Will be having a lot of meals with new pots this week as they have done really well.
Well, I should be making a picnic for our day out at Clacton today, was put off as its raining but according to the weather forcast its mean to clear up with bright spells. Think will chance it.
Dinner tonight will be something easy on toast. Off now to boil eggs and stuff, have a great day.x0 -
Morning all
Raining here, so hubby will be painting indoors at work today. I don't mind the rain & will go to the butchers & charity shops later. I did no housework at all over the weekend, I decided to save it all for today.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs Hester

Well the wether out side here is about the same as i feel. Both me and the wife have been up most of the night (you lot have dirty minds:rotfl:)
Both of the twins have colds. And now so do i. The twins both were quite ill during the night. Blocked up noises and (twin 2) charlotte was couthing up flem:eek: Thay both seem a bit more themselfs this morning. But thay are not beening as loud as normal. dont think its piggy flu but will have to keep an eye on them just in case.
Thay are off to my moms today (thay enjoy there days out:D)
Ill be looking after them tomorropw on my own. Im hoping that tomorrow the wether will be a bit better as id like to take them out for a walk along the canal. i enjoy takeing them for a walk we only go slow and we sit down for a break quite a bit. But gettting out is good. Im not use to speeeding this amout of time in the house.
MY bad head is still there on the left side of my head but its know were near as bad as it was last week. Now that today iv come down with this cold im thinking that it may get very bad again before getting better. But as even if it dose not go away compleately (doc said it may not) then i can cope and do things when its this bad it only becomes a problem when it gets very bad.
Lunch today will be a corned beef sanwich.
Dinner today will be somthing made with the left over chicken.
I hope that you are all well. And the ones with piggy flu (the list was growning if i rember right) are slowly getting better.
Have a great day all:j:j:jYou can have everything you wont in lfe, If you only help enough other people to get what they wont.:j0 -

Hello Everybody .when I was having my little moan somebody suggested I join you guys.
Sorry to be a bit dim but where do threads go when they are moved?
Anyway weather here is dull....washing in/washing out!?
Evening meal chicken and broccoli pasta bake.
I have a freezer I got for nothing from Gumtree but it is very noisy. I turned it off yesterday and forgot to put it back on. Thankfully it had frozen stuff so hard nothing has spoiled.
Won't do that again!
Might tackle my clothes today and try and get some order.
Have a good day:rotfl:0 -
Hi all.
Halight - I hope things improve for you and the twins soon. It must be a difficult time for you.
I'm sorry you are all getting such miserable weather. I won't mention what it's like over here.
I have lots of errands to run this morning. We've finished the laminate floor in the downstairs batbroom but DH wants to replace some of the plumbing bits for the sink, so I have to see if I can buy them - in French. Should be a laugh! I'm not too happy with DH at the moment; he's lucky he's at work. I've just emptied the washing machine. I had a load of old towels that he had used for mopping up in the bathroom. He asked me where he should put them and I told him to put them straight into the WM. He did, including all the kitchen roll he had use as well! I've just spent ages fishing out the bits of white paper before I could put the next load in. We will be having words later! Still, the floor looks great, so I suppose he's forgiven.
Dinner tonight is chicken and mushroom casserole, using the rest of the mushroom soup from yesterday's lunch, with roast leftover new boiled potatoes and broccoli. More plum crumble and creme fraiche for pudding.
Essex-girl - I'm in the middle of DH's end-of-trading accounts. This will be the last lot I have to do, with any luck! We need to get them to the accountant, which I want to do once we come back to the UK in August (to meet our new grandchild, due on 15th). I really don't want to have to post them from here! I've hated doing these accounts with a vengeance and will be delighted to finally get this last lot done. It's a horrid job and just makes my eyes glaze over, which is why I end up leaving them and having to spend days on them!
Well, I'd better get a wiggle on - have loads to do.
See you all later.

Morning all,
Rain here again , have not got much washing, so will leave it for today.
DD is still in bed, will leave her for a bit, she is suffering with conjuntivitis (sp), and her eyes stick together in the morning, Dr told us to bathe with cool water, which is doing nothing, so may phone back today. She had decided not to dye her hair :T:T, she came up to bed last night and said that she had been thinking and her hair colour was quite unusual, and its what made her herself, and so was going to leave it :T;)
Yersterday we got loads of little jobs done, dd and I emptied the conservatory and washed everything down, and cleaned, OH mended the bath, and several other things, we are hoping to get this house on the market soon, so all these jobs are helping towards that.
Need to hoover through, and mop, kitchen and bathroom need cleaning, as does dd's room , not sure whats for tea, but I have a chicken which needs cooking so maybe something with that.
Will do something with dd later, depends how her eyes are, maybe a couple of dvd's and a bag of sweets
Randomer, welcome, you will like it here.
Halight, hope you and the twins feel better soon x
Have good days all xx0
