I'm not too happy with DH at the moment; he's lucky he's at work. I've just emptied the washing machine. I had a load of old towels that he had used for mopping up in the bathroom. He asked me where he should put them and I told him to put them straight into the WM. He did, including all the kitchen roll he had use as well! I've just spent ages fishing out the bits of white paper before I could put the next load in. We will be having words later!

    Morning all,

Kathy, that did make me smile (even though I'm sure you weren't at the time!!) It really sounds like you are settling into & enjoying French life.
Aussie - potato & carrot pancakes sounds interesting? Is that the filling?
StudentGirl - congratulations!!!!!!! It's such an achievement isn't it! (You'll have to change your username now, lol)
Halight, hope you all feel better soon.
Bitsy - I can't quite cope with flylady, but I really need to motivate myself with housework etc (and motivate my DD's....).
EssexGirl - 1 year's worth of filing...
Edit to add Redruby, glad your DD decided that - I have similar issues with my youngest (who is 'strawberry blonde') and I think sometimes she feels pressured by her friends that she should change her colour. So far I've managed to persuade her otherwise...

Well today looks murky here as well, so any washing will be going on the airer indoors unless it brightens up later. I need to have a tidy-up in the kitchen, especially as the table has a lot of stuff piled up on it, which is beginning to bug me now...

I am going to check freezer/cupboard contents later so I can meal-plan for the week ahead & make sure I have some baking stuff if DD's get the munchies.

Also planning on dusting off my sewing machine as I have a couple of dress patterns I bought online, and am going to make a couple of dresses for me, and one of my DD's wants one. I have promised to teach her (and either of the other 2 if they're interested) how to start to follow simple patterns. I certainly don't think it's cheaper, but it's about having something individual... Also going to try & make myself a new 'handbag organiser' from an old one I had which was starting to fall apart (so have unpicked it to use as a pattern).

So, getting a bit more back in the "OS groove" now... I know I am waaaay more OS than many of my friends, but it feels like I need to get myself more back on track & then all will feel right with the world :)

Birthday wishes to anyone I have missed & (((hugs))) for those needing one. Have a good day all.

Am waiting in for my new washing machine this morning I have an absolute mountain of things to buy , but can spend the morning making lists! ( I make loads of lists and then lose them!)

Welcome to Randomer - you will find loads of tips and advice here. OS'ers are a great bunch.

Redruby - I hope your DD gets better soon, poor thing., especially as it's the school holidays. Well done to her for deciding to leave her hair as it is.

Well, I should be doing something constructive but I made a cup of coffee and it just seemed like the right thing to come on here!

Squiggly - I AM enjoying being here but still missing the family like mad. If the truth be told, I would come back to live in the UK like a shot! DH loves it here, so we may have to compromise once we've finished renovating the house. I hope we can sell it, and the land we have with it, which is already for sale, and be able to afford a smaller place here and a place in the UK. That's what keeps me going, really!

I have spent the early part of this morning tackling the Flylady list and have done pretty well!. My new table and chairs have come and I've attempted to put together two chairs and well all I can say is i am walking away from them before I get really cross!!!!!
During my DIY attemps my son has decided to draw himself a spiderman costume on his own skin (he's still in his no-clothes-on-gotta-be-naked phase). He looks hilarious, he's even attempted to draw a mask on his eyes!!!!

Welcome Randomer - hope you enjoy this thread.

Moliere - wow your OH is well in the doghouse!!! I wouldn't have wanted to spend all that time picking off wet bits of kitchen roll. Did it hold together better than tissue or did it just disintergrate. I am ALWAYS leaving tissues in my jeans pockets........

Redruby - sorry to hear about your DD. Hope her eyes get better asap.

Squiggly - 30 years ago my mum made all my clothes and it was more cost effective. These days the cost of fabric etc it doesn't seem worth it (unless you enjoy it of course).

    Morning all!

In bed with a cuppa at the mo! Can't believe how much I've slept lately, must've been catching up a lot, still I feel much better for it, I can actually function when I get out of bed, rather than just bumbling about!

Redruby - pop your dd into the pharmacist and get some eye drops, I've never know conjunctivitis clear up on it's own, and at least the drops stop the horrible itchy feeling! Glad she didn't dye her hair red permanently, it sounds like her hair is a lovely colour already.

Randomer - welcome to the thread, feel free to have a moan here, we all do! lol!

Had a lovely evening with oh when he got back from work, don't want to jinx things by saying that all is going well and we're both learning to compromise and explain why we we'd prefer to do things our way without yelling, but we are!

Certainly much quieter here without dd2, she is still having a fabulous time in Spain. Funny how just one missing can make such a difference, but it does upset the balance somewhat!

Got home yesterday and changed beds, hoovered, washed, s&s the kitchen and bathrooms and tidied and flung out more rubbish! So not too much to do this morning before my friend arrives with her boys - well I do need to check dd1 has finished her room ready for them to stay and move in the sofa bed from dd2's room, but looking forward to their arrival immensely! My friend is someone I met through mse a long time ago!

Anyhoo, os stuff today will be general tidying and more washing, dd3 produced a dozen towels from her room last night, was just wondering where they'd all gone! Will also be doing some more cooking as usual, dough in bm at mo, due to all the issues with it not rising properly, last night I just mixed it in the bm and baked it in a silicone mould in the moski, came out beautifully, and actually was quicker than doing it in the bm! So did 2 loaves last night, one seeded and one with oats, and have a plain one going at the mo. Bread never seems to last long here, especially during the holidays - why do kids eat more when they're off school?

Lunch will be sarnies (okay that'll explain where some of the bread goes, but they usually take sarnies to school anyway, just before anyone thinks I'm a wee bit daft and have answered my own question!), and dinner will be sausages, sauteed potatoes and beans/spaghetti loops, pudding will be cake as it's my friend's ds1's birthday today!

Will be tucking oh up when he gets back as he looked fit to drop when he went off this morning, and then getting ds to help with building the castle and pirate ship I found in their box when doing my clear out, sure it'll keep my friend's lads occupied for a bit!

Have a good day all xx

ps halight, hope your head feels okay today and that you get out tomorrow for your walk with the twins, and that you all recover from your colds quickly xx

    :hello: Good morning all!

Although I don't feel better yet, I don't feel worse either so i don't think it's swine flu, just a cold :p Marshmallow capsules do wonders for the runny nose. Thanks for the good wishes!

Welcome to those who joined us yesterday - randomer, glad you've decided to stay. Witchpiggywoo, hope you will as well.

meanmarie - the lamb braise sounds nice, I'd love the recipe if poss!

Bitsy - :rotfl: at your DS!

studentgirl - Well done on becoming a Registered Nurse  Have you already got a job to go to?

squiggly - Enjoy your sewing! Glad you had a lovely day yesterday!

Kathy - Good luck with buying the plumbing bits. What was your DH thinking of, putting paper towel into the WM - his mind must have been on higher things.....and thanks for your very kind post yesterday.

redruby, glad your DD decided about her hair:)

May have to go to a supermarket today  - we went to Tesco last week when the power was cut off, so went out of our immediate area, but only did a small shop. Actually, may go to Lidl as they've got celery for 29p and I need some! I keep it in the fridge wrapped in foil, as JackieO recommended, and it really does keep a lot longer.

    Will pop back later.

    Morning :hello:

Had a great sleep last night but feeling a bit thick headed this morning (shut it Aussie ) Think another coffee will sort it. :o

Didn't manage to get all my jobs done yesterday as I was distracted by the computer and getting thrashed by Redruby at Facebook scrabble. So today there is more ironing, a bit of cleaning and lots of cooking to do.
Discovered yesterday that one of the freezers had been left open all weekend so I defrosted and cleaned that out and we had a real hotch potch of things for tea. All the raspberry cheesecake muffins defrosted so I will have to make a concerted effort to eat them all before they go off. :D

Damp here today though looks like it's brightening. I think the girls are set for a day's crafting at the kitchen table and a walk this afternoon. Tea is easy peasy tuna pasta bake.

Essex girl. I can sympathise with the paperwork. ;)
Randomer and Witchywoopiggy..... Welcome :hello: Don't know about great advice but you will usually have a giggle on here with someone :D. Glad it seems to be just a cold Ivyleaf... Take care anyway.
    Anyone heard from Churchie?

    Take care

    Good morning all!!
I haven;t droped by for a while and have missed you all....

It is catching this OS thriftiness, yesterday we went out, I packed a picnic (first time!!) and took a camping stove and kettle for the end of day cuppa!! Whole day only cost car parking as cycling cost nothing!!

Redruby - I catch conjunctivitis like theres no tomorrow (occupational hazard of being a teacher I suppose!!), Dissolve 1 teaspoon of salt in a pint of water, let it cool and use this to bathe the eyes, use a different piece of cotton wool (or tissue!!) for each wipe so you don't cross contaminate - this usually works for me unless it is a nasty bout in which case, eye drops from doc are only thing to shift it!!

Need to shift myself now and get going with housework (but it is my summer holiday - despite the rain) and I bet as soon as I start the plumber will arrive... maybe wait until he has been and gone....... then it will be lunchtime..... oh and I have cakes to bake.... Maybe tomorrow....

  • Morning everyone (just!)

At work, really looking forward to having a bit of time off next week :j

DH and DD are at home - don't think they'll be doing much today - weather is terrible.

Washed all my make up brushes yesterday - what a sight to behold - they were disgusting :o Also ironed Mt Everest - so it's all done until the next wash - probably this afternoon

Had lovely HM chilli yesterday, DH and DD are having leftovers for lunch. Remembered to take some chicken out the freezer this morning - dinner tonight will be HM chicken korma, rice and naan.

Belated Happy Birthday's to Haribo Junkie, Patchwork Cat, Hermione and Sunnygirl :bdaycake:

Student girl - :j Congratulations - all your hard work has paid off

Have a great day everyone (((((hugs)))))
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)
