hex2 - my ex worked his socks off for us so I could stay about home - we had three in 3 years, girls are the same age for a week and a day. For that reason he because, of me never lifted a finger come the house or DIY. It worked for us, I worked in the home, he worked outside of it.
With my lovely new DH, we both work full time and cos the ages of the kids, youngest is 18, we 'share' housework, never been mentioned/discussed, we just do. Whatever works for any couple is the way to go. Don't feel your not contributing, to me being a stay at home mum is the hardest job in the world, been there, done so KNOW xxTo love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0 -

Pigpen has lists. Not everyone can do these as they are too much for them. So we now have black run (for people who can do Pigpen's lists) and nursery slopes (for people who can't do Pigpen's lists - these people pick 5 things they want to acheive in a day and post their personal list of 5 the evening before or in the morning. Like Pigpen's lists, these can roll over - ie they can finish Monday's list on Friday and still get an award for Monday). Pigpen has also posted her own challenge to us all which is a weekly challenge.
In simple terms: Black run - Pigpen's lists - award: stars (as we have had for the last few months)
Nursery slopes: personal list of 5 things to be done in one day - award: flashing heart
Pigpen's challenge: to be done throughout the week - award: heart
I need to quiz y'all about these..
There are 3 levels on the daily list so those who live in squalor (like me) or are new to the list can do just one level, or 2 or all three depending on their own ability/time etc.. obviously as incentive to do all three levels we have the stars.
The weekly challenge is for those who wish to take part and help with declutterings, household tasks, selling etc.. all in the name of emptying our homes of rubbish or making them cleaner.
The 'nursery slopes' added this week which is appearing to confuse some and overwhelm others is a continuation of the weeky challenge from the last few weeks. Now, this is a challenge which WILL be repeated again but we needed a change of task before we all get set in our ways! Which is why I did something different this week after a coupe of people mentioned having suff they needed to get rid of this week. While this is aimed at 'beginners' that is what the levels on the main thread are for, so flybabies can begin to straighten their homes without feeling overwhelmed by a huge long list each day that they haven't a hope in hell of completing..
Now.. 2 choices...
Do away with the 'nursery slopes' idea and stick to the original idea of flybabies do the levels and work up to level three and add any extra jobs that HAVE to be done to their own 'dailies' list as we have always done before
OR
Keep the nursery slopes which I do think complicates matters and adds extra work for those who are totally competitive and cannot refuse a challenge. Also, I feel, makes the 'levels' obsolete which means everyone will get a huge list of tasks each day. and also along with the weekly challenge it is just too much.
I do not like having 'extra lists/challenges' I think it is too much and should be left with the main list and the optional weekly challenge and weekend lists which will change as and when need demands, or when you lot ask for something different.. I do like to change things about as I feel doing everything in a set order with set tasks makes it dull and we need the challenge of change to keep it interesting. The idea is we do what we can and have time to spend with our families on a weekend or more time during the day and evening with them.. not adding extra tasks to fill the day entirely so we run around like headless beasts and feel we have achieved nothing.
If we keep the nursery slopes I won't be doing weekly challenges and possibly may drop the levels as well as they are obsolete. I feel just adding the tasks we need to complete to our individual lists is plenty. we are great at reminding each other to renew the car tax and ring the dentist etc so I don't think we need to have it on a separate challenge.
