Do you think that lquid manure will be affected by that?
Depends what its derived from ? if it's animal manure then possibly it's very difficult to tell, luckly I've not been too affected by this problem as I tend to use green manure rather than animal it's a lot lighterYou can't have everything....where would you put it?0 -

Just about to harvest my first lot of spuds, grown in two bags of homemade compost.
Quick question - can the compost be used for top-dressing in the flower beds after? This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
Yes no problem what so ever, a good use for spent compost. You can't have everything....where would you put it?0

We have just moved into our first house WITH a garden!!!!only it's tiny so here's the plan (from a not very green fingered but very hopeful one!)
A big deep pot (maybe a small plastic barrel) with holes drilled in for drainage
Chuck in my sprouting spuds
Cover with compost
when leaves appear, chuck on some more compost
keep going as above til pot is full, then wait for shoots to die back
RIGHT!!! is all of the above correct-ish? My daft question is going to come now! How do i get the potatoes out from the bottom without gettin in a huge mess or can the bottom ones wait until all the top ones have been scoffed?!
Also we move in 2 weeks is this too late/early to plant them? How often/much should i water them?
I really do love potatoes and can't wait to get started!0 -
it's getting late in the season now, but your idea sounds A1, you may get a way with some earlies for xmas if the frosts keep off them.
you could always sow a few broad beans or a few garlic cloves instead. You can't have everything....where would you put it?0 -
not too keen on broad beans here but garlic mmmmm how do you do that then???!!!0
