Ok , got my packet of seeds and now am concerned that they cant be grown in pots. It says plant 2ft apart . So think this would mean one plant per pot,
is this right ?
And do I just plant in compost ?
any help pleaseKindness costs nothing0 -

It should be ok if you don't move it. I read broccoli doesn't like root disturbance.
Last year all my transplanted seedlings died, so this year I've cut a loo roll inner in half height ways & they are growing well. When I plant them up I plan to put the tube in too, not sure if it will work. I'll let you know.0 -

Hi all, this is my first post after lurking for a while and reading all your tips, this is the best thread ever!
I'd like to grow my own veg at home, and I've made a start with 2 tomato plants (Sungold and Tamina) a cucumber and 2 pots full of leeks, that I got as baby plants from a local sale. Are there any veggies I could sow as seeds now or is it too late? Had planned to do it all properly in spring but got distracted with refitting the bathroom
Sorry if this is in the wrong place, feel free to put it where it should be!0 -
I have been using black flower buckets for my tomatoes and seeds.
I bought 8 for 99p in morrisons today and have them potted up already.
The black buckets are the ones their flowers come in and usually they are thrown out. I think asda give them away so its well worth asking. The co op throw them out so try there too.
tonight i planted out 2 tubs of carrots in sand and also thought i would try spring onions in sand too....not sure if they will work but its all trial and error isn't it.
I started off with only about 10 pots i think i must be upto about 30+ the greenhouse and the garden....so addictive0 -

I've got 30 pots in the kitchen windowsill and some in the summer house! I have also got herbs in my bedroom window.2008 Wins: The Shapes - Get Your Learn On (CD), Free transport to and from a Christmas Party2009 Wins: Years Supply of Orbit Complete (144 packets), £50 of Odeon vouchers

Are there any veggies I could sow as seeds now or is it too late?
Hi Nozzy,
I'm sowing herb seeds fortnightly (basil, parsley, coriander, chives etc) so that I have a constant supply for cooking. I'm going to try to grow enough to freeze for the winter too because the supermarket plants are so very expensive at that time of year, and don't last long enough for me.
Anyway, herbs look great in pots in or out of the garden (I keep some inside on the kitchen windowsill in reach of the stove) and there are some great varieties too. One thing I haven't tried (but might, later on) is letting some of the plants go to flower so that I can collect and use the seeds for next year instead of buying them.
Hope this helps a little.0
