Shortening to 3 years would accelarate the process of clearing debt.

Or allow the less than careful to run up even more.

True, but I was assuming the shock of a bad credit rating would frighten most people into ensuring they never got into that position again, whether from ignorance or mismanagement.

Oh forgetting bankruptcy that allows for it to be done 60 times over the working life then - but that's ok isn't it....?

Sadly, I doubt that is the case with many people.

It is very difficult to get credit for many years after bankruptcy. I believe many loan and mortgage applications ask if you have EVER been declared bankrupt.

So what if they do, this is their right along with everyone elses right and the bottom line is WHO CARES? If they want to get into debt then good luck, if they can avoid paying then brilliant!

Its not for us to be jealous over, just accept it 3yrs will be the norm soon enough..... get used to it.

Really? Not true... only as long as the b/r is for. Forget loans/morgages i'm specifically referring to revolving credit. Easy to do it.

My point is no matter how much you preach and how much you argue you'll never be told - the current system is wrong and the more you argue just shows your naiveness and lack of knowledge. Sorry but it's true.
