Hi DC - hope you have buckets or something collect the water from the roof? Even extra newspaper up there to absorb some of it might help while you are trying to raise the money for a new roof... It is one of those things that you can't really afford to ignore......

Hope today at work goes well. Welld done on cancelling lovefilm. I keep trying to cancel mine and then another film arrives - don't know what's going on - must chase that up!

  • Phew, glad that's over ! Day as expected...

Thanks SH. it seems it's not dripping through, not an actual hole per se, just the lining had it. There is a small patch above DS1's window which is discoloured. I guess I should get an expert in to tell me whats what, there may be a temp fix....just until.

  • Feel the Fear......is working !
Today I received a phone call from a company requesting my presence at an interview early next week, caught on the hop, having forgotten I'd applied in early December. The time and date was inconvienient and incredibly short notice so that suited the negative side of me perfectly. Because after all I'm not going to get it anyway, it's too far for me too travel, what about the kids, etc etc. Long and short of it ended up in me actually declining the interview to begin with...

    *Wet fish - Slap*

...but they phoned back with an alternative time and day I could make.
We are talking an extra £7000 a year, what is the matter with me ? I'm not happy where I am. I can do so much better ! Why on earth do I not think I'll get it ? So I'm trying to find my self esteem, and something to wear !

**gives DC a slap**. Of course you are good enough for the job, they must think so too or they wouldnt have given you an interview and definitely wouldnt have bothered rearranging it. You are a wanted woman!

The list you posted looks great, definitely true that if you are sorted then so are the kids.

Well done on getting your interview btw xxx

Hey brilliant! Good for you! Good luck with the interview - when is it?

  • My problem is I get all inspired and motivated, full of bright ideas and debt busting mania and then I don't follow through. Example, cancelling lovefilm last month, creating a saving of over £144 a year. Have I done it ? no. Not only do I procrastinate - which is an energy sapping activity in itself - but I allow obstacles to stop me in full flow. Life happens and the sooner I get over that the more pro active I'll be.

    So my aims for 2010:
    1. Get Things Done. Lots of little unfinished jobs around the house, all totally doable. Things I used to nag DH about, and now look at me .

    2. Get a new, better paid job.

    3. Kick start my flagging OU career, register and complete a 10 point course to remove study ban.

    4. Declutter. This is a huge job. Many of DH's things are involved here. That will be emotional and hardwork, but He would tell me to stop being so silly. Hanging on to things that were worthless to him, so why am I fretting about it ? It needs to be done.

    5. Stop smoking woman ! Been banging on about it for months.

    6. Continue on the alcohol free route.

    7. Be me, don't try and justify who you are. Be happy with me. (A bit of a deep one, because I feel very pigeon holed by events of the last 2 years, think it may be my thinking not others.)

    8. Don't stop learning to budget, only way to debt freedom is to work at it. I'm not going to win the lottery - because I don't do it.

    9. Menu planning. Takes all the pressure and last minute dashes to supermarkets out. Use the slow cooker at least twice a week, gives me time to do stuff, leaves my early evenings free.

This is all very me based, (right thinking eh Hypno :) because if I'm alright the children are alright.

That's all for starters, there's plenty more. I'm sure.

Hi DC, I just love your list, I think it is fantastic. Good for you and all the best with achieving these goals.

I can empathise totally with the dh thing. Just as one eg, my shed is full of National Geographics that my dh loved to read. I just can't part with them. There are other things that I would want my dd to see when she is older for her to "know" her daddy a bit more if that makes sense. You will know what to keep and what to part with on the day you start this task! And you can always have a not sure pile and re visit it every so often to part with anything more you are not sure about now.

Then, your goal to work on yourself so your children are ok is just so so true. For a time, I lost myself and threw myself into work without giving thought to my health or well being. As a result, I was more stressed, tired, etc, and now like you I have plans to go to the gym weekly in 2010 as an eg - when the weather has cleared up - do things that make me feel good, then when Im with dd our time is better quality because we are both relaxed.

Also, working on a budget makes for a happy home I am realising. Yes, there are things I used to buy dd and dont anymore, yes she thinks we are poor!, but on the other hand, she is understanding the value of money, I have explained to her I want us to have a better quality of life in the long term, and for now we need to enjoy the simple joys of walking along the beach as an eg or playing in the garden, going to the park all things that don't cost are really good quality time we have together.. So, I think you are definately on the right track, and will help you keep focused.

Finally, I wouldn't knock yourself for procrastinating, we all do it, and sometimes it just means you need some you time. And then you will find a day when you are in the mood to do whatever it is and you can tick it off your list.

Good luck with your interview. Thats great news, and is happening for a reason!!

    Take care, PandF

Excellent news about the interview DC.

Go give it your best shot.
