I also found the egg site to be down quite a bit, especially late at night. I've never had a problem with FD.Whilst my posts do not constitute financial advice, I am always, without fail, 100% right!0 -
I find it much better. As a previous user of EMM for many years, I switched to FD before I was a customer (non customers can use it too) and much prefer the setup...
Top tip of the day there! The following page says that non customers can in fact use it. And has links to the demo. You can register from the demo pages. Note that the service you want is called Internet Banking Plus.

In the UK, the account aggregation software is provided to Egg and First Direct. I'd be wary of the 2 above listed sites that, in theory, provide a personal versions.
The first is
https://web.ewisenetwork.com/moneynet/1.0_home.jsp
The demo doesn't work and the site appears to be very old. I assume the functionality is free. What happens if you get a problem?
The second site is
https://www.ewise.com.au/accunity/aa/home.asp
I'd be suspicious of any site with the link "FAQ's" on its front page. The demo doesn't work here either............
The ewise direct offering available here:-
https://www.ewise.com.au/accunity/aa/home.asp
works fine. I have been using it for years.0 -

"Account and marketing information is then available to the aggregation service provider (the 'host' of the customer portal). In this way, the service provider can observe customer spending and saving patterns, across a variety of accounts from
different companies"
Be sure that you're happy for Citibank to see all of your account details from every account that you use with Egg Money Manager.0 -

They only get to know which institutions you've got accounts with. They don 't get any knowledge of the account details, log in passwords or any knowledge of your transactions/balances. This is becuase your log in details stay encrypted on your PC.
They could potentially use the knowledge of which instituions you've got accounts with for marketing particular products. However in the years I've had EMM, I've never known them do it (although I have, as always, opted out of marketing).0 -
Well having played around a bit more with the FD offering, I do find it more reliable than EMM. It's let down by the odd quirk when setting up accounts, but once you've done that it seems pretty solid (so far!).Stompa0

I only have 2 current accounts and around 5 savings account. So its pretty obvious I am a saver. If Egg want to offer me a decent savings account then they can go ahead....0
