Oh dear..I didn't see it but OH watched it...mind you, he thinks I still look 28.
Regardless of age, we do still invent things.
BTW, Have you completed yet?
ETA; I never know how to respond to Amc's posts. Sometimes I ignore but other times I feel compelled to respond...he is so neg about everything in the UK.0 -

Was the above question meant for me, rather than trouser Dave?*
If so, the answer is 'No, we've not even exchanged!'
I found problems with the title deed. Nobody was very pleased with me, and I was even a bit cross with myself, but wrong is wrong.:o So, they are sorting it. Dunno what we pay solicitors for.
As for Amc, he has a very colourful garden, and clearly plenty of time to spend in it, so really, he shouldn't be so down.
*Weird, my e-mail address begins with the word 'trouser.' It's a bit rude, and as you know a bit about me, you might even be able to guess the rest. Think about it!0 -

I like to think I'm realistic.
Just look beyond the propaganda of the BBC and really ask yourself what has improved in Britain in the last 15 years. I can't think of a single thing.
Then ask yourself what has got worse. Quality of life is dire, damn near a police state, cretinous yoofs out of control, we are borrowing to pay the interest on borrowing, idle half-wit feather-bedded chavs everywhere, corruption and cronism rife in every part of politics, fuel insecurity, food insecurity, crushing taxation, service and manners forgotten concepts, pip-squeak bureaucrats relishing their incompetence, the F-word bellowed out on every street, everything is bodged for a quick profit, middle-classes under attack from the State and turned into criminals, oppressive political correctness eliminated freedom of speech, English hardly heard n schools, Victorian infrastructure tired and broken, roads at gridlock, prices sky-high, overcrowding, 'no go' Midlands towns, stealth taxes, EE encampments in the woods, drug-use and drug-crime out of control, ...
Let's be realistic, England was in a terminal spiral of decline that was temporarily halted by the exploitation and squandering of North Sea oil. Now that's gone, nothing to show for it and we're back to the grim reality of a nation of stupid, drunken, violent people "led" by corrupt politicians who still spin the lie that we can 'punch above our weight' after winning the war.0 -

I know it was single thing, but I thought I'd leave some for others
Sure, a lots not as good as it used to be but, you know, I rose to the challenge.

Ah well, at least we don't have other European nations dropping bombs on us now. I think I'd swap the present for that golden age when we had world wars.0

The things Amc mentions are my concerns too, but in varying degrees, and I'm not sure that any generation has had a feeling of security.
If I go back to my teenage years, my friend's Dad, being the vicar, had a 'special' phone in the hallway which bleeped steadily, announcing that all was still right with the world. We all knew what it would mean if the tone changed. None of us imagined we'd see our 25th birthday.
The generation before ours expected invasion, the generation before them wasted their young lives in Flanders, while their immediate forbears died in huge numbers from overwork, insanitary conditions, malnutrition and diseases that have long since become curable.
Sorry. It's never been that great.0 -
life is only as good as you make it and that goes with the country you live in, if you always look at the negatives you will never see the positives.
Yeah this country has its faults and as mentioned previously you could find somewhere better to live but there are more worse places to live than there is better.Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0 -

bureaucrats relishing their incompetence, the F-word bellowed .
OK I understand where you are coming from...thanks for writing out your list.
Medical advancement would be no 1 for me despite all the critism of the NHS. MIL is stone deaf due to a hereditory disease. 50/50 curable when she had her op 30 off years ago. She was unlucky.
OH developed the same disease and the new, better op restored his hearing......far higher success rate nowadays.
Lots of illnesses now more curable.
My grandmother died of bowel cancer in the early 60's, cure rates on that are far higher now too.
And the internet.
It's just the bestest thing ever for loads of reasons but number 1 for me would be the access to info on all sorts things that would have been difficult, if not impossible to research just 10 years ago.0 -
Can't argue with that :Tamcluesent wrote: »>I never know how to respond to Amc's posts. Sometimes I ignore but other times I feel compelled to respond...he is so neg about everything in the UK.<
