To be fair, this is not a UK exclusive advance, nor the medical advances(many of which filter in from other countries, a few filter out from here. :)) Sure there areplaces where access to the internet is limited and restrictd, but there are many, any more where these dvnces are at least equal to ours.

I think the simple thing is if someone needed convinceing to leave UK for family reasons etc, then its likely not to be the right move for them. But for non-homebodies, well, In milan, for example, I was closer, time wise, to home than I would have been from the north of England, and when Dh was there and I here his commute weekly was cheaper than it now is from London!

Oooops ....I was thinking China or N Korea where internet is censored or Afghanistan even...but I figure GBD's kids aren't thinking of of emi'ing to those places.

Healthcare...if going to India or USA one would need to be able to afford private insurance. Many who can legally work here (EU resi) can use our serice in on their taxes STS.

I've had several women in Aus tell me my accent is 'sexy' since moving here. It's not always a bad thing being a foreigner!

Anyhow, I'm used to getting the blame for things. According to some idiot on here, I'm responsible for the whole credit crunch/global financial crisis thing!

Well...could be something in that :p.
Since you ex bankers/hedge funders all scooted off to warmer climes, some of us have been having quite a tough time of it.

It's all starting to come good though for FC123 enterprises. I always say out of bad things come good things...such a trite statement I know. I may have even said it to you once :o.

    But so true.

OK I confess I have cousins in Canada (French speaking part) who emigrated in the mid 70's due to my uncles work. He left UK as part of the brain drain and MOD reasons.

I remember it broke my grandads heart...but he compensated by lavishing extra love and treats on the remaining UK based grandkids (us).
I chit chat to my cousin online a bit younger than me, no real career (worls contracts as and when) but his second wife has a fairly good job...but nothing high flying.
    He supports 3 kids.

OMG the house they own (tiny mortage) is huge, he has loads of time to ski, kitesurf and faff around online...no debts, big car (to cope with the snow). He falls over at house prices in UK but doesn't think the salaries are that great..higher than Canada but not massively so.

PS; Sounds like it's all working out Gen..I am really pleased for you all.;)
