The NHS may not be perfect but the richest country in the world (USA) hasn't got one.

Bizarrely enough many Americans would be horrified at the idea of having one.

I think I'm a bit depressed at the moment, but consider:- 1. Name 5 things this country makes or does that is top-notch world-class (apart from paying benefits).

UK musicians have been amongst the world's best for almost 50 years.

I am not sure if that is a plus or minus for the UK

I am concerned that we are currently living on borrowed time in this country and that we are in long-term decline.

Won't you have that fear in any other country?

    You won't escape your mind:)

    Anyone know
What the NHS costs per head per annum
The typical monthly family health premium in the US?

I don't but thought it might help inform the debate?
    I think....

I know! It's because of they way they have been dissuaded, An NHS has been likened to one-step away from Communism.

Trouble is about 60 million Americans do not have medical insurance, the potential ramifications of this are morbidly obvious.

I've worked abroad and travelled in a fair few countries, which all have their good and bad points. As does Britain.

There is nothing more boring than a resident Brit moaning incessantly about how rubbish this country is. Except perhaps an Aussie working here and whining about how it's not as warm as back in Oz.

Things that Britain does really well (off the top of my head):

    NHS
    BBC
    National parks
World class museums and galleries (the major ones in London are all free, unlike many capital cities)
    University education
    Music
    Modern art (especially public art)
Daily press (many countries just have one or two dailies)

I would encourage my kids to travel, but I wouldn't raise them to be serial whingers, no.
    They are an EYESORES!!!!

Nothing in the world really matters except for friends and family. When you emigrate you lose that, hence why so many people who do emigrate are very unhappy with their new lives. Forget all the other nonsense.
