Very minor, but still, where's Bertie Bassett gone?

Never heard of spogs. Are they only spogs in The Potteries? I really do need to know how they come to be called spogs.
I've never heard of spogs and a quick check amongst family members in different parts of the country have never heard them called spogs either. Cannot imagine how they get that name but will now remember it. :rotfl:Grant me the serenity to accept the people I cannot change, the courage to change the one I can and the wisdom to know it's me"0 -
Am I the only one still chucking at the OP looking forward to eating Bertie? You are right, it did sound very wrong. :rotfl:0

This morning, I looked in my letterbox and found a letter from Cadbury's. Inside was a £3.50 voucher towards my next purchase of sweets, which was pretty...erm...sweet.
There is only one bittersweet aspect. Yesterday, my O/H bought me some liquorice allsorts and joy of joys, inside were TWO berties.
I scoffed them, only to find that he's changed
. Long gone is the soft, pure liquorice bertie I loved. He's now a tough, chewy anniseed flavoured gummy thing.
Wish I hadn't bothered, now...
Oh well, great work Cadbury! I'll be sure to buy a Boost or something.0 -

Oi, that's not fair. I only got £2.50. You must have really sucked up to them to get £3.50. Sucked .... get it!!!!! :rotfl: and no, I don't suck the bobbles off the spogs, I'm a gannet, I have to get them down my throat the quickest way possible so I'm a chewer
My £2.50 will probably go on chocolate, OH can have fruit and nut and I'll have dairy milk. Or I could have Mingles 'cos I like them too, or OH can have some liquorice allsorts 'cos they're his favourites. Big decision, I'll have to sleep on it.0 -
I go to the sweet shop down the road from me. They sell the bobbly spogs in both colours separately. Of course, when it comes to licorice, I get to nom the whole bag as OH doesn't like it. Oh well, more for me

I do it all because I'm scared.

i noticed this too! went to have one of the stubby cable things only to find it no longer tastes of liquorice but resembles a chewy sweet
Bertie's never been the same since they gave him a blue side _pale_ when the first cup of coffee tastes like washing up she knows she's losing it

I sent them my receipt and a real letter rather than an email...dunno if that helped.stationaryace wrote: »i noticed this too! went to have one of the stubby cable things only to find it no longer tastes of liquorice but resembles a chewy sweet

I agree
. I once found a sweet that tasted like the original bertie, but I can't remember what it was. I think it was these cars they used to do in pick + mix from woolies. 0 -
When I was small there were no bertie sweets (and they weren't made by cadbury) in Basset's allsorts. He was just a character on the box and in the ads.0

Seems Bertie has got hitched.
