I forgot about Hibibi being our Al Anon person, good call Al and thanks Habibi for posting that for jos.
I am feeling much better this morning thankyou.
Funny thing isn't it, everyone one that stays on here wants to help other people.
lewt, Al was beign sarcastic ...... and quite funny, maybe you should read his words again with a fresh mind.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -
Master Mac is at rehearsals all day, Mrs Mac still in bed and Miss Mac still in bed.
Papers & plastic recyled, DVD returned only ironing to do. I think I'll stay here
The one thing I wish I could get a grip on, is being with other people, crowds etc. OK on my terms, just in situations not of my making. I've spent to long trying to be what everyone wanted or expected me to be. I'm finding it hard to change, without upsetting people0 -
Little beer came into our bed this morning and said its time to get up, it was 9.20! I thought it was about 8 o clock..............
So all I've done is do some freecycle stuff, eat porridge stuck in front of my nose and fed the chucks........ I can see them looking at me hoping today is the day I finally finish their new house. Its not looking good atm
I have the same problems Al, I think maybe I am getting towards just being more open about it, before I was so scared people would find out that I didn't like a situation, now I'm more up for just telling them, it seems to reduce the stress a bit.“Pleasure of love lasts but a moment, pain of love lasts a lifetime.”0 -

I remember feeling like that and am still not always that comfortable outside of my Al-Anon friends.. I have learnt to do what is best for me though and not try to please everyone, it's not possible. Those around us don't like it when we change but they get used to it and I have to deal with the afterburn I get when I do something different.
Like Beer says, I find it better in the long run to be honest - scary but better.
Have a nice dayThat's life, it's just the way it is0 -
lewt wrote:hi yeah, the difference is some people still think alcoholism and drug addiction are to different illness's. i dont hold with this veiw. and alcoholic in my veiw is an addict of alcohol.
the only difference is that CA tradition 5 says addict not alcoholic.
for those of you that wonder tradition 5 is " each group has one primary purpose-to carry it's message to the addict/alcoholic who still suffers"
Hi Lewt, whereas I respect your right to have whatever view you wish I also respect the view of others in AA who say that whatever illness some else may have it is not the same as alcoholism. There have been many discussions in AA over the years about this and the AA Conference attitude is that AA is for people who have a problem with alcohol and that includes alcoholics with other problems but does not include someone with solely a problem other than alcohol.
Also tradition 5 of AA does not mention the word addictSomething Really Interesting0 -

It does in CA which was what i was quoting along with AA. the traditions of NA CA and AA are the same as are the steps.
In my view alcoholism is the same illness as adiction. alcohol is a mind alturing substance in liquid form. thats how CA can use the bigbook of AA to go through the program. just changing "alcohol" and "drinking" to "using" and "whatever" the substance may be.
Some people in smaller towns have to use AA as their is no Ca or NA. i agree that some with an eating disprder would not be right in AA. but adicts and alcoholic are one and the same in my mind. -illness wise.If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0 -
I can't help but think that alcoholics and drugs addicts, while similar, are suffering from different problems and will have to cope with their illnesses in different ways. Yes, both are addictions, but addictions to different thinks. The methods of coping will be very different, like an alcoholic would encounter different problems than someone who is addicted to gambling?Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

it's all addiction.- i think. the soul;tion is the same for gambling... as it is for sex drugs and eating the relation thing might be different whilst sharing. If i upset you don't stress, never forget that god aint finished with me yet.0

I suppose I can't really debate this - I don't follow the steps for any of my addictions, so I wouldn't know how they work for different addictions.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0
