Alcohol self help thread II

I cant do AA lewt - just aint got a higher power thing going on.
As for the mental problems - I have had them since being very young, always suffered from depression, due to abuse etc etc.etc.
been anorexic, taken OD's suicidal thoughts etc, but the drinking helped woth them I could forget everything - blanking it out.
I thought I had it under control, laughable really, just using it as a prop all the time. My tolerance got higher and higher and I never really seemed drunk to anyone esle, but getting up to tow to three bottles red wine a night was bad.
now I have to face everything - not least the debt that the drinking has caused. and the weight problem.
At least I dont have the 'early dawn' any more = noth waking up and berating myself for drinking far too much,
and I can get up for work too and drive without worrying that I'll get pulled over and still be over the limit.
love and good wishes to you all, and thanks for the support,
jacdNo drink since 30/12/06
[STRIKE]34[/STRIKE] 103 days without a drink :j0 -
Giving out champagne at work today, apparently I'm on the list to get one, just that manager is a bit slow

Do I
a) Turn it down
b) Ask for chocolates
c) Take it and give it away.
I think c)
jacd, knowing you aren't over the limit, or anywhere near it, is a nice feeling in the morning

I'd turn it down Al - that way they know that Alcohol isn't a good idea for a present

But I wouldn't drink it. We've got beer and wine in the house. No spirits
And it is champagne

That isn't the point - the point is they need to be aware that you should be considerate with giving gifts. Like you are never supposed to give boxes of chocolates with nuts in as presents - its too risky.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0

If thats all they are giving away then I would personally take it Al. I do agree with FG tho there seems to be no realisation that some people might not want alcohol. Knowing how much champagne costs they should really give vouchers away, while nice they are thinking of you i do think its not a considerate present.0

I've had chocolates when it was wine. This just seems a little better than wine.

Much better than wine al, i suppose you could keep it for a family celebration. I just think it would be nice to be asked. It is assumed you drink, i dont think a lot of thought has gone into the gift which they obviously think you deserve. I suppose it really dosent matter because its nice that they obviously think so well of you.0
