  • I'm going good, 3 days done - yesterday was hard at one point, but managed to ignore that voice that told me to drink :) Funny how I'm missing drinking more than smoking. Today is going to be a good day for me, I'm not going to let anyone bring me down - I'm doing this for me, and I'm happy.
Just wanted to say well done, one day at a time and you'll get there, good luck:T

Jayne.doe - I`m sorry if my post made you think that I was judging you. Honestly I wasn`t. I know how hard it is to stop (I spent a year in rehab altogether) .You have done really well to accept that you have a problem before it gets as bad as it did for many of us. As has been said before, alcoholism is probably the only disease that tries to convince you that you haven`t got it. I have also heard it said in AA that alcohol is the only poison that makes you want more.

I am NOT going to buy any, I've got a reason not to - I just know that [STRIKE]I [/STRIKE] my alcoholic voice will want some, but I'm not gonna give in

    How are you feeling?

I still get a strange sensation walking down the drinks isle :(
  • Hi all,

This is my first post and my second alcohol-free day. I'm scared of failing ...again. I'm feeling positive at the moment, but I know I have got a very difficult journey ahead of me. Decided to post on this site so I've got a bit of company along the way - I hope there's room at the back for a straggler!

Welcome Wapinshaw!! Welcome aboard, nice to have you along for the ride :)
And congratulations on getting to your second alcohol free day, how are you finding it?

  • Thanks for the welcome!

I'm finding it quite easy at the moment - but that's because I've taken a couple of days off work to avoid stress (one of my triggers) and I always get this kind of righteous self-belief in the first couple of days. It's when I venture back out into the world and hit day 4'ish that I decide 'just the one' would be okay. And of course, I don't stop at just the one! Thought I'd try and outsmart my drinking self this time by getting some supports in before my self-belief wavers again.
