  • Hello again.

I've not contributed to this particular thread for a long time on purpose. Only a couple of people know why, although I have continued to read the thread with interest. Just wanted to say that I'm so impressed by particular posts, and it's so good to see you back Beer.

Jayne.doe - it`s not just your liver that can be affected. I wound up with heart failure (a huge flabby heart that cannot pump properly) ,the kidneys were not functioning properly and the liver was dodgy as well. 5 years on,the liver has repaired itself but the heart continues to weaken. I worked in a hospital last year and sometimes had to take the kidney patients to be hooked-up to the dialysis machines. It did not look like fun. You only have the one kidney. Look after it.

i do know in my heart of hearts thats why i am trying so hard. my o/h has chronic obstructive heart disease and takes 4 different types of pills everyday, not fun either. Thats why i am trying to get him to stop as well. He needs to make that choice. I may hide behind humour but never mistake me for not genuinely wanting to give up alcohol i am desperate to. I am aware of the effect on my kidney thats why i have made a choice so please do not judge on what you know nothing about. I am adding more here and it is my last post on the subject. You do not know me. I felt so positive till i read the above post. Last week i gave up drink for how long i honestly dont know and i have never felt so ill in all my life. I thought i was going insane if you bother to look at some of my posts you might see some of the pain and torment i felt, and still feel, as you can see from the above re my o/h it is dangerous to judge when you know nothing about someones life other than a few humourous comments placed on a board.
  • Morning Jayne :)
Please don't feel you are being judged, we are all here to support one another :) Ok, maybe thats just me being a lovey-dovey girlie, but I like things to be all nice and friendly - and I am here to support you without judging, I'm sure everyone else is too - its hard sometimes to write things on here the way we want them to sound. If you know what I mean.
How are you getting on now? You might want to consider just sticking a number in your signature so I know how many days its been - I've got an appalling memory.

Al Mac - how are you today?

I'm going good, 3 days done - yesterday was hard at one point, but managed to ignore that voice that told me to drink :) Funny how I'm missing drinking more than smoking. Today is going to be a good day for me, I'm not going to let anyone bring me down - I'm doing this for me, and I'm happy.

    Any sign of beer?
  • Hope you'll be ok with the Mrs away Al mac - have you got some coping strategies planned just in case you struggle?

Beer hasn't been on since last night.
