I've always thought that AA is for life, wonder if thats another reason why I'm scared to go?

In my case - no one knew I drank. As I was such a 'serious' drinker, I had ways of hiding it from everyone. Well, except my mum who knew all the signs. I'd rotate who I drank with, I'd have a different group of friends for each night of the week - so everyone just thought I got drunk once a week, not everyday.
I don't know if there is anything you can do for your son. All my mum did was leave AA leaflets around, under my pillow and things - so that if/when I wanted help, I could have it - it might be worth doing that? Or has he got an older cousin or someone he could talk to? He might be reacting badly to your daughter being in the clinic, has he spoken to someone about that?
Oh, and feelies sobriety date is 25th November 2006
:T well done you!!!!
we dont have any other family.. just me, the kids and my mum.. and she's the last person you can talk to bout stuff like that. He's being referred to a young carer's scheme which should kick in shortly so we'll see.
I'm hoping it's just one of those friday night things with his mates, thought they'd try their luck and got caught.. but I'm really worried in case it's not

Just keep an eye on it and let him know that he can talk to you if he wants. Maybe get a card for drinkline or something and leave it on the fridge in case he wants someone to talk to?
Fingers crossed it was just a one off - chances are they hated the vodka and will leave it alone for a while.Stay-at-home, attached Mummy to a 23lb 10oz, 11 month old baby boy.0 -

It could be - if you hadn't had alcohol problems in the family, chances are you would have been a bit cross, but not as worried.
I can't tell if I am an alcoholic, or I just think I am because I've got a recovering alcoholic mother and was always very aware of drinking problems.
OOoooooooh, there was lightening! I love lightening!

hi lewt, no luck still on cd, however o/h is waiting for a parcel and it hasnt arrived late. not good is it? That was really hard what you had to do last nite> i used to smoke canabis a long while ago now and found 17 yr old with it after concert last nite, was not happy. His friend who stayed has dropped out of college, as he did school and he is going down the slippery slope of drugsville have seen it. He dosent associate with son much now, thank god. I feel sorry for him but can see his life mapped out for him already. And although we never know whats in our futures this kid looks ill and i am concerned for him. Ethel 14 is not good, he is experimenting and now is the time to nip it in the bud. Vodka is lethal like all spirits you dont know when enough is enough it dosent make you drunk straight away and is really nasty. I suggest a long chat and tell him about his dad honestly explain your worry. Show him this thread if need be it dosent make for happy reading. Show him that film about the documentry on alcoholics on bbc 2 shown this week. It scared me ignorence is bliss we have to educate our young.0

He knows the dangers of alcohol.. he remembers how his dad was.. and he's seen other people too so I'm really hoping it was just a friday night thing cos his mates were round

He knows I'll be watching him like a hawk now, so if he is drinking, it's gonna be harder for him to hide it and he's likely to trip up cos he's not very good at being crafty or devious, lol☆ §ügÅr cØÅTëÐ pØï§Øn ☆

it must be really hard for you especially when you all know the signs you sound like you are doing all the right things it must be really difficult when you are on your own, not easy:(0
