    FOR Al,
    If wishes worked like magic,
And plans worked that way too,
    And everything you wished for,
Whether good or bad for you,
    Immediately was granted
With no effort on your part,
    You’d experience no fulfillment
Of your spirit or your heart.

    For things achieved too easily
Lose their charm and meaning too,
    For it is life’s difficulties
And the trials we go through
That makes us strong in spirit
And endow us with the will
    To surmount the insurmountable
And to climb the highest hill.

    Well done just doesn`t seem enough :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T :T

    Good luck with your continuing journey, You are a star :T :T :T :T :T :A

Been reading this thread for ages , unsure whether to post. i think i have a problem with alcohol. i wouldnt say im an alcoholic but i am dependent.i can go a day without a drink but by day two i am really craving it and i seem to drink friday even, sat evening and at least 3-4 glasses on sunday.i could miss maybe the next day but tuesday anything from half a bottle to the whole bottle of wine then at least a few glasses wed and thur.
the more i try not to drink during the week i crave it even if i go till 9.30 i still would open at bottle at that time of the night.
the thought of giving up completey i just couldnt do it. i have put a lot of weight on which is prob due to the sugar content in wine.is it better to try and cut down first or go cold turkey ?
I feel better for writing this down now
Hi Blondie perhaps this link will help you decide

PS. someone once said to me that he "would rather be sober at an AA meeting pretending to be an alcoholic than being drunk in a pup pretending that he wasn't"

Too simplistic for me brodev, the questions take no account of personal circumstances :)

I do not believe that any set of general questions will ever be able to take in everybodies personal circumstances. For me it was one of the few exams I ever "passed". I got 17 out of 20. For me, I could not put it down to personal circumstances. I do believe that if I look for similarities I see similarities, when I look for differences I see differences.

I got 14 out of 20, based on when I drank:o , some could have gone either way.

Something that has occured to me today, and is probably something I need to answer. Did I loose my confidence which started the drinking or did I loose my confidence because of the drinking.

I have a very confident father and sister, an, badly, opiniated mother and a brother who has issues, which I can't understand or comprehend, I don't think he is aware he has them.

I've always strived to be what people expected my to be, of the three children I'm the only one who has had what my parents would call a normal life:o

And since being married, trying to be what Mrs Mac wants me to be, something I don't think will be achieved, something we'll have to work through me thinks:rolleyes:

Am I me now because I haven't been what others want me to be:confused:

I'm enjoying work, I've gone backwards 10 years career wise, now doing what I liked doing then.

So many questions and no real answers, but to have put it down in black an white, has been quite usesful.

    Thanks

    Al Mac
