Its certainly not making me feel better about being an alcoholic, I've been 13 days wthout, thats the most days off since I was 18. I'm going to do more, having this here all the time is a lifeline for me, councilling wouldn't help, on a one day a week basis.......please, I'd be back on the drink the next day, having someone here, someone who cares about me is worth more than all of the people who have tried to disrupt this thread.
It wouldn't work for you, if it works for me and others, who are you to judge?
Beer counselling in the beginnning is a daily thing not a weekly thing, all you seem to be doing is making excuses. Alcoholics rarely know what is best for them. They don't know how to help themselves and you shouldn't feel threatened when I try to put across a different perspective.
I am not trying to disrupt the thread, whether you like it or not I am trying to help, is it only disruption when someone says something you don't want to hear?0 -

Hi all
I'm a newbie poster so please be kind to me!
I have been watching this thread for ages and just wanted to say how much I admire you all. You have tremendous courage facing your demons as you are doing and I salute you.
I have alcohol problems myself and this thread has given me the chance to think very deeply about where I want to go from here. Not sure if I have the courage to take the plunge just yet but when I do I hope all you lovely people will be there for me. I never realised how many nice folk there are out there.
Keep going all of you, even when small-minded people try to cause problems. We can all get there in the end.0 -

Lets face facts, you don't KNOW whats best for you, you don't KNOW how to help yourself, you are an excuse making alcoholic.
I'm coming out of lurking mode here because I felt I needed to comment on something. You say that at first counselling is a daily thing, all I can say is you must have been either been sectioned or very very lucky. My ex bil is a alcoholic, he has in the past tried to get help from his gp and the most he was offered were those tablets that make you sick if you drink and counselling sessions.........once every other week. Eventually he was sectioned because he kept trying to kill himself and only then did he get any real kind of help. Sadly his situation isn't uncommon either.
Back into lurker mode now.0 -
