    Beer

Having the stuff your in laws gave you staring you in the face is not doing you any good.

Could you give it to a friend?

Invite people over for a barbecue and than give it all to them?

Put it in the shed and post the key to yourself?

Anything that gets it out of your face!

    Hi mich

Feeling very down today, all that free beer just staring at me from the kichen.

Its not the inlaws fault for giving me it, they haven't been told about my drinking problem, how can I tell them? How can I tell them they're daughter is living with someone like me?
I don't know what they would do, would they take her away and my little girl too? Its a horrible day and I can't see a way out atm.

Pour the beer down the sink and phone someone and tell them you have alcholism. You are living a lie and that is what makes you want to curl up and die, not the fact you have an addiction. Your addiction isn't you Beer, it is just a small part of you.

This thread hasn't helped you Beer....you are still drinking. You don't know what AA meetings do for the average guy on the street, because you have never been. (and personally I am above average ;).
I don't think you would die before going to an AA meeting, I think from reading your posts you have too much self preservation for that.

And i re-itterate, that it isn't helping you Beer, it's just making you feel better about being an alcoholic. Please do think hard about getting help, professional help doesn't mean an AA meeting, it can mean one on one cognitive and behavioural therapy.
As I'm the one here feeling I am getting help and you have absolutely no clue to how I feel, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

Its certainly not making me feel better about being an alcoholic, I've been 13 days wthout, thats the most days off since I was 18. I'm going to do more, having this here all the time is a lifeline for me, councilling wouldn't help, on a one day a week basis.......please, I'd be back on the drink the next day, having someone here, someone who cares about me is worth more than all of the people who have tried to disrupt this thread.

It wouldn't work for you, if it works for me and others, who are you to judge?

If you'd read the old thread, you will know I have told my Mum, my sister and some of my friends, so I'm not living a lie.

Go and read the old thread. My addiction is me at the moment, something I am going to change, the constant battles about and on this thread isn't helping, but I'm guessing you already know that.

You say you had help from people qualified to help you lidlest, I'm happy that it worked so well for you.

I've been through psychiatric treatment and therary as well, both to address drinking and social phobia. In fact I was seeing a psychiatrist and a therapist on alternate weeks at one stage.I've also been to AA meetings but had to stop because they made my sp so much worse I could hardly function.

Medical treatment hasn't helped , AA didn't help either. Not their fault at all, maybe I've more severe underlying issues. However if posting here can get me through an extra day without vodka then it's a help.

    Beer

Would any of my ideas for getting the stuff "out of your face" work for you?

Stepping back a minute from the recent problems this beleagered thread has suffered and the immediate suspicions that a "newer" user is here to cause trouble I think that Lidlest puts some great points across about what worked for them.

These points may or may not work for someone else, Al Mac for instance did decide that counselling would work for him, beer has decided it won't work for him so all suggestions deserve their place but please don't tell users that this particular thread is no good for them when clearly it helps some people.

For some users, this is their way of tackling their problems at the moment perhaps they will move on to AA and/or counselling and we can only applaud them if they do so.

We have 163,379 threads on MSE at the moment, I cannot for the life of me understand why this thread was picked on as not adhering to the rules or the accusations that Martin and his Team have changed the goal posts, and even worse that they should not do so  of course the goal posts get changed all the time as different situations arise and that is Martin's perogative.

Happy Easter everyone and may you enjoy your day in whatever way you choose.
